    1. hasn't been the case for years now. just look at the new Dell XPS for example, looks better than the Macbook Pro 16" at a fraction of the price
    2. macbook better performance than windows at the same price? that's just objectively wrong. everyone knows you pay a premium for the apple branding. if you're purely comparing specs, windows laptops are much cheaper
    3. not if you take care of it correctly
    4. agreed, can't beat apple when it comes to software. windows 10 is buggy and bloated

Looks a lot like plastic to me. Even the cheapest MB has a all metal chassis. Anyway, design is pretty subjective anyway, so not going to go into that too much.

Performance isn't just raw specs. It's a combination of the hardware, cooling, battery and software. Obviously macbooks are terrible with cooling, hardware is meh and I'm certainly not justifying how poor that is. But the software makes it. For what I use a laptop for, raw performance doesn't mean shit if the software is a buggy mess. macOS is well optimised, and still feels fast after several years. The four windows laptops that I've owned/used, at all different price brackets, all perform like shit because of bad battery life and software. I don't care if a CPU gets x more MHz with a windows machine, when most of those gains are cancelled out by shitty software.

I've had two laptops. One was a Windows laptop, bought brand new. The other was a macbook, that was cheaper, but second hand (but the results would've been the same with an Air). I took them both to school every day in my bag and used them on a regular basis. The plastic windows one quickly was falling apart and had the vents broke, whereas my Macbook looks the same as when I got it. When you have designs with large amounts of plastic (as most windows laptops that are cheaper than macbooks are), then that is an inevitability. Plastic is simply weaker.

Let me put it this way. Over the years I've used 4 windows laptops on a regular basis. Some were cheap 2 in 1s, some were normal laptops and some were full on gaming laptops. They are now all slow af and can barely run a few programming apps I use (two of them can't even run Windows decently at this point). Whereas the two Macbooks I've used on a regular basis both run just as fast as the day I got them, despite being older and cheaper than some of the windows laptops. Is it software? Probably. But as a consumer I don't give a shit about raw performance numbers if the computer is just a buggy messy that I can't even browse the web on. So while someone might say 'what about z laptop', I have a pretty clear choice. Either take a risk on a Windows laptop that will probably slow down in a year or two, or spend a bit more on a Macbook that will last me for 5+ years. It's a no brainer for me.

a simple google search will tell you it's not plastic

"100% of the enclosure is sculpted by a CNC (computer numerical control) machining process. A high precision, machine-milled aluminum chassis creates an elegant design with high build quality that’s stronger and stiffer than magnesium or plastic."

using mac over windows is not magically going to give you more FPS in a game, make videos render faster, or make code compile faster when the hardware is objectively worse.

i mean just look at what the replies are saying on this mac forum: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/macbook-pro-is-not-overpriced-here-is-why.2199246/

anyway, i don't care about what laptop anyone wants to use, but saying macs have better performance for less money is just wrong

I don't use Apple products personally and I want to point out, there really isn't much reason to buy an Apple product in this day and age unless you're already deep into their eco-system. If you're an avid Android/Windows user, there is no point in going into Apple now. Although, if you are already deep in their eco-system with their products, it makes sense to stick with them due to integration, etc.

honestly .. i am not educated on .. any .. techy stuff .. so pls don't attack me but as a general consumer i genuinely feel like apple is just much easier (for me). as somebody who is fully invested in the apple 'ecosystem' the way the devices work together seamlessly is just something that can't compare with android devices. i don't need wild specs i just like an easy, minimalistic experience which is why i personally prefer apple. it's just an opinion tho. things like airdrop, imessage, handoff, the apple watch / iphone experience, airpods ... ALSO. apple's attention to detail is sick. etc .. i completely recognise that android / window computers are very capable devices, and i would never think that i'm 'superior' for having an apple device. i don't know understand how people can make fun of other people for having an android, a phone ... is a phone.

also .. i've had really good experiences with apple in terms of longevity and reliability. one time my ipad that .. i had for like two years was dropped and had no physical damage but the display had black lines going through it. literally .. no questions asked they replaced it no problem.

    The ecosystem and better interface/software

It's super nice for example being able to use iMessage on my computer to read and respond to texts. Small things like that really just make my life more convenient.

I mean... just to point out a few things people tend to say.

I use an Android phone, a Samsung A3 2016. I've been using it for a bit over four years with little to no issues despite me being a clumsy little retard and continuously dropping it. Half the screen is absolutely gone yet it's still fantastically working and I feel regardless of what I do it doesn't fail me. I have always found Apple's products to be way overpriced and it's capabilities to be exaggerated.

...or I am just very easy to satisfy with products that work in an okay sense and aren't expensive, who knows?

I feel like its just a refined interface compared to android. I've had both Samsung and Apple phones but I always end up going back to Apple for the interface, like the android always usually outperforms the iPhone but the Android UI just lackin.

Just saying, Pure Android UI (especially Pixel) is super simplistic and designed by Google who are known for leading UX design in the industry. Eco systems exist in Android too (Pixel Buds, Google Home, Android watches, bulbs, Android Auto and millions more) and they're so easy to use even babies can use them. Text apps integration (like iMessage) exists on Android.

99% of the arguments Apple boys give are simply not true and that shows how much they are trapped in the ecosystem Apple built for them - they don't even look at the alternatives, they just decide they're bad without knowing anything about the industry nowadays.

Apple is good. I'm no denying it. Liking the style makes sense. But if you're buying for status or not looking at other options, you're a terrible consumer.

Not really. There’s nothing wrong with buying things for the luxury of it if you can afford it

When it comes to phones, I disagree. Again, there's a lot of reasons to love Apple, they have great products. But people thinking other phones are better but are ashamed to not have an iPhone is just sad. Better just have a nice personality than try to compensate with phones imo.

Thought this would be interesting for this thread, feel free to watch the entire video but in short
They're trying to make the Macbook Air 2020 run cooler by trying different cooling methods.
Only to find out, that the heat sink is designed in a way where it actually doesn't fully touch the CPU.....

Another reason in my book to not buy any Apple products.

The only thing I will say to that is that apple's public ecosystem is larger, at least in my daily life. And what I mean is most all of my friends have iPhones, MacBooks, and apple watches if they have a smartwatch. There are functions and apps on Apple devices that are only useful with other apple products, for example, the "FindMy" app, or the ability to add friends on apple watch and track their workouts, or iMessage, FaceTime, etc.

Android has its own versions of these things but it's only useful with other people who have andriod products

Back in, uh, 7th grade if memory serves correct, I actually begged and pleaded for my Dad to buy me an iPhone because of the whole 'clout' and 'wanting to fit in' thing. It was an iPhone 5, and ultimately I never really was the biggest fan of it in the first place, and I actually got a samsung galaxy s6 for my birthday the next year (aka the time I got staff here! woo)

For people my age group in high-school, I think that's really the biggest thing. Because most of the kids my age throughout my time in high-school had/used iPhones. I even know a couple who switched over from android, purely for clout reasons

I get why some people do this, and heck, it's their money and not mine, but in my case at-least, as I've gotten older I've become more of a 'judge by performance' type of guy instead of how it looks. Which is why I'm rocking the OnePlus 7 Pro. It does everything well, 90 HZ screen with an awesome display, literally a full screen phone (no notch or punch hole). Oxygen OS is smooth AF, in-display finger print scanner which works actually insanely well and is hella fast. It's also mega huge, too; though, because of my smaller hands, I can rarely, if ever, use it with one hand, but the beauty of its entirety is completely worth it. Can't forget the charger and battery, too. Charge with the crazy fast charger it came with for 15-30 mins and I've got practically enough for a full day's usage.

No headphone jack, which is fine because I'm rocking bluetooth earbuds. Also no wireless charging, which is also fine with me because of how fast it charges with the brick. Tho, no water resistance IP rating

I've got everything I could ever want in it; basically my dream phone, and it cost way less than any of the premiere iPhones do.

agreed.. i dont think anybody actually claimed apple is better than android. they both have their pros and cons. this is all based on opinion and the bashing is pretty unnecessary lol
