From now on all staff members will clearly mark when a message is "official".

If a staff member does this before their message:

    Staff:

It means its official staff on-the-record statements. For instance:

    Staff: Please do not spam.

That would mean that they are acting in the capacity of a staff member.

PlayerA: What are J&H going to do about the mojang monetization crackdown?

HelperB: Staff: J&H have given no official word, but said they would take action when it becomes necessary.

Player A: ANy idea what they might do though?

HelperB: They could just change perks to cosmetics, in compliance with the rules.

In the example, the first message was an official one, speaking as J&H staff. The second one was just them participating, off the record, in the speculation, as any other player, and should be treated as any other player, and *not* taken as official.

This is designed to clear up any confusion or misunderstanding. This rule applies to both server and forums. Doing this will allow us to make it clear when something is official and when something is unofficial. I hope this clears up all future possible misunderstandings in this area.

This'll at the least be a lot more helpful clarifying what is legitimate information and what is not.

    Exactly, thats the point.

It allows staff members to participate in speculation conversations alongside everyone else, without causing misinformation because "Well staff member X said..." when in truth they were just participating like any other player, unaware of what is really going to happen since, well, they didn't know.

Yes. A clear example of confusion in the staff was when they were getting the new wave of helpers: @RadeonX told me there were plans to add 20+ helpers at the time, which we can all see is not true. I also saw others (I can't remember who it was now) Who told me they were only going to take in 3. That too, was not true.

Actually it is both forums and server.

Staff members will simply say "Staff:" before their message. Read the examples I posted in the starting post. :p

Actually we are planning to add more but its difficult right now. We're trying but its hard to find usable candidates.

What I said about new helpers was info that we got from Jerry himself.
They might have changed their mind by now tho.

Plan is to (ideally) have 20 new staff members at the end. That was the plan, and that was not false information. Ofc we wont take 20 people in at the same time. Some evaluation needs to take place, so since we only want trusted people as staff, this process will take some time.

However, only higher staff knows what is going to change with the staff ranks at this moment.

    Right.

Also, so you all know, they wont use these tags *ALL* the time, the point is, when they *do* use the tags you know its official. When they don't, then they can be treated as you normally would except the fact that anything drastic like the above stated example would be tagged if it was official info.

This is also just one step in a several stage process to get the information flow stable. Stop leaking info thats not supposed to, and what is supposed to be told, clear on whats official and whats not.

I think this is a great idea, so we can actually tell what is official and what is not!

Official... meaning that Jerry and Harry are officially saying that this information is true, and it's not just something made up by a Staff member. Or at least I'm pretty sure that's the definition you're looking for.

Close. It basically means that they are claiming they are speaking on behalf of the owners in an official capacity. The information is not just their random speculation. Most of the time this will be true/accurate, though please remember that even while speaking in an official capacity, we can make mistakes.

That said it shouldn't happen often, so this should still clear up misunderstandings.

Yeah, we have helpers on the server,
they shouldn't care about Mojang and stuff because THEY AREN'T MOJANG STAFF! They're server staff!

To shorten it down, this thread is saying don't ask questions to helpers that aren't about J&H, because it's unofficial.
To make it all tiny, don't ask staff about anything but the server.

Yeesh whai do I think I am a helper myself...

hehe thats not quite the point of the thread.

I'm saying staff will now mark when they are speaking on the record, official.

    Yeh, I know.

But what about people that impersonate as a staff and new members take them as an actual staff? Then what happens?
