And it's far from dying. These statistics are from this year, for context. Minecraft is only growing and will continue to flourish no matter the stray comments without any backing claiming that it's a dying game
Holyshit stop talking about minecraft dying, it's doing just fine and you're all going of personal opinion rather then daily statistics trying to look all smart and educated on the topic a dead game has 0 players minecraft has at least more than 0 players so it's fine
This. When minecraft was kinda in it's 'low' point, I quit too, but still watched minecraft youtubers (mostly from hermitcraft). And currently the youtubers on the Dream SMP are getting crazy views and it's trending every time something eventful happens. But do all those viewers play minecraft? No way.
This makes sense. I suppose the better term could be that 'Minecraft' as a genre and brand is far from dying, rather than the game itself. Nonetheless, starting last year with SMPLive I feel that there has been a spark within the community and playerbase. This, as well as Mojang showing no signs of stopping with updates, and with the ever increasing popularity the game has on platforms such as Twitch and Youtube, tells me that it's going to be around here for a long, long time. You have guys like TommyInnit and Dream who are growing exponentially and taking over their respective platforms, for example. Also, I didn't mean to come off as harsh in my initial post. I found that twitter message on my timeline and felt like it could be an interesting thing to convey here, being that I've been around long enough to notice the disdain some have towards the game and opinions on if it's a dying brand
Can confirm this is true, know a lot of people who watch MC streams for some reason but do not play the game
^ and most "new" players are not on java edition. this graph is from official Minecraft Wiki and it stops in 2015. you can see bedrock already outsold java edition in 2013. xbox in 2014. now imagine the graph in 2020. all the kids are on XBOX/PS/WIN10 (aka bedrock) & PE now. The bedrock edition also has cross-platform play they might watch Dream speedrun the java edition, but they don't play it
