Ain't no way
If Creative is being updated to 1.18, how are you going to make sure people's submissions only have 1.8 blocks? Are you just going to leave it up to the builder to make sure there are no 1.9+ blocks included in their build?
What will Creative now offer that single-player worlds, personal servers, and event2 don't offer for building maps? Seems pretty pointless and unfeasible to make Creative the new building ground for map submissions, even if the plot sizes are going to be increased to 201x201. It's still a pretty limiting space for OITC maps, relatively lengthy parkour maps, and mega parkour maps. You would have to pay money to merge plots to get more space, which is undesirable if you can just build maps on something like event2 instead.
In terms of Parkour, event2 has been used for building maps for around a year now, and anybody who's serious about building a map or helping contribute to the server's Parkour community has been given access to event2. It's worked effectively, and as for those who haven't been using it, they've been able to effectively build and submit high quality maps on their own personal servers/single-player worlds without having to deal with the space limitations that Creative would have.
If I were to rebuild this again, it would be a lot more of a hassle to try build it on Creative, than it would be to setup my own personal server, or simply just use event2.
This is the only thing I see which Creative offers which would entice people to build mega parkour maps on Creative as opposed to somewhere else like event2, but again, there just simply isn't enough space on Creative plots to build a proper mega map.
Overall great update, but the map submissions stuff seems pointless to me.
Most OITC maps (with few exceptions), and even kitpvp maps are 150x150 or smaller.
We're not ensuring or monitoring a submitted map block choice. Blocks can be downgraded where needed.
The person running event2 map submissions is the same person whom suggested the map submission based changes to open it up to more people to make, test and submit maps.
A single-player world does not have world edit, voxel sniper, gobrush or gopaint. A personal server might. Pretty sure event2 doesn't have some of those tools. However, this is easier for any user that doesn't want to make their own personal server, create a schematic or upload their world for their submission, since on the plot, we can simply accept and launch the submission instantly since the build is located directly on the server.
tldr; The update was needed. Convenience gave us the reason to update when we could not otherwise find one.
I definitely think that making map building/testing accessible for more people would be beneficial, the only issue I see is the space limitation on Creative. I guess we'll see how 201x201 plots work out for people building maps, and if it's really as small as it seems or not. Also, event2 has all of those.
getting really tired of all these businesses trying to make money from their customers and not just paying out of pocket to provide a service out of the kindness of their hearts with no monetization, free of charge.
capitalism was a mistake
This but unironically
Ill pay so bluenet can stay
since im not active, i have no motivation to spend the money
if @Haruld pays for the new plot he can own the plot and build anything else he wants in the rest of the space since i understand that the plots will be bigger
get bluenet to 10 years of existence pls <3
@Haruld i will donate my time to support bluenets construction.
@TheDiamondPicks @left4lag ily
Nah I'll leave it untouched just show me where it is and I'll tell em to keep it
it's creative;2;1 <3
it does warm a small, soft spot in my heart to know that the subsection of this server that initially got me hooked a long time ago back in 2015 is still here, and even being updated of all things.
Been a while since I've hopped on, and I generally don't play MC anymore except on some small occasions where I feel like dabbling. But I want to check this out - the picture of the spawn is enough for me to be a lil interested with how awesome it looks lol
I hope life's been treatin you well, Ezz, as well as everyone else who decided to read my message. I don't post much anymore, many probs dont even remember or know who i am, but I'm still here every so often when I find the time to open up my laptop
Been awhile since I've been here, Ill hop on 2 see what's going on when it resets.
He got a promotion and he works a lot. Then there is whatever is going on with the server. He's good though. Kicking ass and accomplishing goals.
I'm really happy to hear that. Seriously. I know I haven't talked to you or Ezz in a while; it's not a gripe I have, in general over these past few years I've been drifting away from the aspect of online gaming communication within games like Minecraft, platforms like Discord, etc etc. I acknowledge how I've moved on with life in a way, but I am still thankful to not only you guys for talking to me, for helping me in big and small ways in my past, but to everyone who I've had positive interactions with during my peek of playing on here. It means so much more to me than I could ever put into words, especially in a day like today where I don't really talk to many people IRL on a more personal level, on an active basis anymore. The transition from high-school to college has hit me hard in that way. I'm practically fully adjusted to the new way of life that is college, but for the longest while I have struggled with building and maintaining new relationships. So to know that there's still this place here, even if it's dwindled, where there are people I've interacted with, people I think fondly of, it truly does warm my heart and make me feel better about things
If you ever need me feel free to drop a DM.
Updated the opening post to include character sheet commands
If you ever feel like being active online again we’d love to have you in the Echo Discord. Garnet, Ruler, Twage and Zombeh say hi <3
(That also goes for any of the old pals from Tealworks/Echo days of survival, we have an active discord and would love to have you)
Gosh, it's been so long since I talked to you and all them. On my behalf, if it's not a bother, tell them I say hi and hope they're all doing well. Same to you, Teal. I hope life's been treating you well these past few years.
I honestly might consider it, tho I have to weigh my options cuz college life is no joke, especially for an english major like myself. More than once a week I'm spending 2-3 hours alone just reading for one of my classes. And it's only going to get worse because this is my sophmore year lol. But aside from that, depending on certain major assignments due in the near period, I usually have more than enough free time when I'm not on campus. So getting active again in an online community is definitely possible for me. But it's a matter of weighing if it's something I mentally feel capable of committing myself to again.
