Other Games Possibly New Play Station

Both Nintendo and Microsoft have released game consoles in the last two years.
Sony has not.

I personally feel like Sony has something planned.
I have seen the Play Station 5, models, release date, etc.
It just doesn't seem right to me, like look at those controllers... what?!

If the Play Station 5 flops totally, I feel like Sony will have an easy escape route that they have been planning for some time now. (Note: I don't play on Play Stations, I play Wii U and XBox One S)

Simmilar to the XBox One and the XBox One S, it could just be an upgrade...
or an alternate console.

I'm just rambling about a fantasy, I get it, but I think it's possible.

Questions I Can't Answer:
If the Play Station 5 doesn't flop and it ends up a major success for Sony to the point they have surpassed sales by a large margin, will they release an alternate console?
If the Play Station 5 isn't released due to money cut-backs or a reason that isn't specified, will the alternate console be released?
Is an alternate console even possible with the state of Sony?
What are the chances an alternate console will be released, and it is successful?
What will the alternate console be named?
*Simmilar to the Nintendo Switch, it might not stick with the Play Station theme they have, (I said simmilar because Wii, Wii U, and Nintendo Switch... get it?) it could be something new and totally different which I am really looking forward to seeing.

We probably wont get an answer to this until 2020 due to the fact that there is a typical gap between Play Station releases. (7 years)
