How do you achieve 1,000+ likes?

I'm really confuzzled as to how people have 1,000+ likes. I've been playing on the server for three years, but I didn't join the forums until a year ago - Maybe I missed the forums better days? Am I just simply toxic?

So, I decided to do some investigating, and interview some of our most notable members:

I started with @Bubs , the newest helper and the lovable gorilla we've all known for a while:


Me: "How do you have over 1,000 likes? I'm genuinely curious as to how people do it."
SpookyBubs: "Mostly because of the content we post, we get tons of likes."

Next up was @Konohito , the moderator that everyone seems to know.



Me: "Ok: How have you [received] over 1,000 likes on the forums?"
Konohito: "Yes"
Me: "?"
Me: "How*"
Konohito: "I'm not sure"
Me: "Ok XD"
Me: "Would you mind me quoting you?"
Me: "I don't want to enrage anyone:
Konohito: "About?"

As you can see, my social awkwardness is definitely exerted into this conversation. W

Next up was @momand , the head priest/god of the newly reformed momand cult.



Me: "How did you achieve over 1,000 likes on the forums?"
momand: "i'm famous"

As you see, momand was too busy organizing sacrifices to give a detailed response.

Then came the over-salted cheesepuff, @Cheezipoofs



Cheezi: "F***, the porn scandal is out"
Cheezi: "run"
Me: "I'm just interviewing people who have 1,000+ likes"
Cheezi: "oh"
Cheezi: "actually my friend likespammed me to 1000 so i would post a selfie
Me: "Is that how you got 1,000 likes?"
Cheezi: "yepepyep"

As you can see, the Cheesepuff has been exposed. He's part of an organized crime group called the "Cheeseheads".

Then came @Wuffy_ the huggable wolf.



Me: "Can I interview you?"
Wuffy_: "For?"
Me: "I just want to ask a question and post your response on the forums"
Wuffy_: "Erm, what's the question?"
Me: "How did you gain over 1,000 likes on the forums?"
Wuffy_: "I've had my account ever since the forums opened, and I suppose posted things people liked"
...
Me: "Ok, Thanks!"
Wuffy_: "Sure c:"

Wuffy is friendly, but in this world of constant flame wars and strange people, who knows what he could be hiding under that fur coat.

Finally, I interviewed @TheIncendium



Me: "How did you achieve over 1,000 likes?"
Gamesphere: "A lot of sarcastic gifs.

We now all now that Incendium is an illegal gif dealer.

Based on these amazing interviews, I have created a formula for gaining 1,000 likes. It is as follows:

To get a thousand likes, you must post quality content, sell sarcastic gifs, be on the forums for a long time, and be part of an organized crime group, all unintentionally.

But now, in all seriousness, let's actually address this question. How do you gain 1,000+ likes?

This can easily be derived from not these peoples' responses themselves, but by the behavior they exhibited towards me. All five of the people I interviewed acknowledged me in a friendly matter, and had a great sense of humor. I actually ended up talking with a few of them for a while after I interviewed them.

All you need to get 1,000 likes is to be friendly, active, and enthusiastic. This may sound easy, but it really isn't. You have to be very committed to engaging with the community as well.

And to answer another question, no it isn't simply popularity. Sure, the most well-known members are definitely popular, but where do you think they got it from? This isn't high school. They simply gained their popularity and friends from their kindness and sincerity to others.

I know I'm nowhere near 1,000 likes or posts, but I hope to get there one day. Until then, and even after, I will stay committed and engaged in this community.

I haven't reached 1k yet, but these are my views on it:

a) have a lot of friends who spam likes (woohoo)

b) just be overall a nice, friendly person and (optional, probably) good sense of humour. post sensical things and not rage and start flamewars and basically pissing people off

c) get active. even though you might not get tons of likes on every post, at least you'll have a few here and there and in the end it'll all stack up to 1k.

d) (building on c)) the more you post, the more you get noticed, you rise to power, more friends, back to a), more likes because you're famous now (heh). and of course b) definitely contributes to your "rise to power".

I personally got this many likes due to @XazaM like-spamming me, thanks fam. about time I spam you again

Here's my answer:
It's really the amount of time you put into the forums- NOT how long you are on.

If you have good content, you should be able to reach 1,000 likes... well... around 1,000 messages. Just post a lot, and you will become more well-known amongst the community. Me personally, I was usually within 300 likes above my messages.

 

And you didn't interview your lad with 11k likes :(

 

I got like spam the crap out of by many people.. that's how I got over 1k likes.. But really, you just gotta post funny things.. or something that don't even make sense half the time. Like in the one thread that was called Trigger Warning or whatever, I posted "This thread is still a thing" and got like 6 likes off it.. just because I was being myself and questioning why the thread was still up.

Just be yourself, people will like your content as they feel, as they do, and when they want to.
