Why are they confidential? Was it to stop bullying or something? Please note, do NOT lock this thread. This is a discussion and I want to get your points of view on this. :P
I believe the main reason was that the administration team wanted to see what you said in your app, not what other people though was good. If an app was updated with suggestions by others, it wasn't really your application then, was it?
Here is how I would have liked it to be: Apps should've been public for people to see, but not to reply to, just like the reports used to be.
Sorry if this sounds rude but who cares if a certain member thinks a different member should be staff? Then you are biased and your reasons make zero sense. I've seen people who had awesome applications and were incredibly trustworthy, yet they had no likes compared to popular kids who got tens of likes on their applications even though they had no staff values whatsoever. I don't remember Spy or Electric having a lot of likes and they were/are amazing staff members. Yeah? So people who get like spammed by their friends are trustworthy? Come on Jerome. Likes should be seen as a personal achievement, not an as indicators for staff values. How is that good? People should be completely, 100% original and honest when applying to staff. If someone has the potential to be a great staff, it shouldn't be too much of an issue for them to write a little staff application without using others' ideas.
Even though my whole reply was only my POV, I can't argue with you. You are totally right on this post.
