Hey guys! Today, I'm gonna talk about something quite serious nowadays in the community. As the LGBT community's confidence and influence on the modern world has become stronger, there develops more jealousy, and hate speech/crimes. And last night, Hallow'een, my friend, a transgender boy, was victim of it. Seriously, the fact I was on a ferris wheel to watch fireworks or the fact a spotted an armed clown last night is nothing compared to this. I was witness to this shit. So, set the scene. Last night, I was at the hallow'een carnival that happens every year in my home city of Derry/Londonderry, Northern Ireland, named worldwide, and European high-spot to visit for Hallow'een (True story, look it up.). I was doing what you'd usually do, going on the rides (Passing out on one because of the speed.), and getting food etc, so when I go to watch the fireworks on the ferris wheel, they begin, an air siren goes off due to the plans. My carriage starts rocking and whatever, making me scared, so I look down, to see my friend being cornered by some older people, presumably age 14-18, alongside my other friend, who went along with us that night. I saw they were clearly afraid and intimidated. Knowing me, I would've fought back and told them typical Northern Irish slang like: (Bad language incoming.) "'Gon fuck off." "'Am Gonne kill ye I swear hi." (You probably understood the first sentence and that's it.) But of course, I'm on the ferris wheel, panicking while the air raid siren goes off, and also feeling worried over the fact my transgender friend is being harassed. I then watched them be chased out of the amusements and into the pitch black park. Never have I felt so useless in all of my life. In the end, the fact they weren't full on attacked and survived punches amazes me. Now I know the last sentence makes it seem like bullshit. But after getting off the ferris wheel early, the first thing I did was call my friend, who was clearly distraught and in tears. Of course I'm not gonna quote the call, since this is private. But seriously, I've never felt more guily, angry, sad or upset before in my life. The fact they were attacked by (more bad language.) some prejudiced, uneducated, airheaded bastards has never made my rage ignite like this. Please, if you have any bad thoughts or plans to harm or make someone within the LGBT community uncomfortable, please, keep them to yourself.# Joey/Duk.
I agree and I have a transgender friend In real Life and she has been harassed and bullied as well. There is no true reason why people have to target LGBT and Transgender people. Just because they are getting more attention and now influence in the modern world as you said dosn't give a logical reason of harassment or un-fair treatment. Its just B.S. how they treat them.
I agree, mostly, with everything you said, but this part stands out the most to me. The first part of this quote, I can sort of agree with, why would anyone attack someone who has a different sexual preference then themselves? ..The rest of the quote I disagree much with. I'm not going to censor myself or purposely pander to anyone in the LGBT community just to make them feel comfortable. If you feel uncomfortable around me or you feel uncomfortable because of my opinions, then stay away from me, do not expect me to silence myself to make you feel better. That does not go just for anyone in that community, it goes for everyone, nuff said on my part.
People have the right to their opinions but they don't always have to be shared. As far as violence though... I don't think that's necessary.
I have said this before, I am Asexual. I have been harassed by kids at school last week, saying "I was a disgrace to my family and to the kids I would never have" . But seriously though if things like this happen again tell an adult like I did with my issue.
There is a chance they weren't being harassed about sexuality but I'm not sure if you asked your friend. You didn't mention anything about hearing the convos or discussing with your friend. Just try not to jump to conclusions here. Harassment to this degree is considered more serious (albeit it shouldn't because teasing someone for being tall is the same as teasing someone for being gay. None is more severe than the other.) And so you're setting up a dangerous scene. Yes it isn't ok what they did but make sure you have all the facts.
He was. I was phoned by him after I got off the ride, and he told me that the people had harassed him because he was wearing a hallow'een costume (Harley Quinn.) of the opposite gender.
This is why I support the death penalty. (Bit too harsh?) One of my friend's is really REALLY into cosplay, REALLY (Not enough emphasising). He cosplay's as female characters from certain anime in public which look's pretty cool, yet here in Central Australia, he doesn't get any hate, which is oddly strange as Australia is said to be the most savage continent to this day. Hope your friends doing okay!
