Into the Woods!!!

I am OBSESSED with fairy tales, and of course I'm equally obsessed with the musical "Into the Woods" by Stephen Sondheim. It's essentially about a childless couple of bakers, a witch who tells them how to break a curse keeping them from having one, and their interactions with other fairy tale characters like Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, Jack, and Rapunzel. They all want different things, and after happily ever after they have to deal with some negative consequences of their desires.

It's up there in my list of favorite musicals with "Sweeney Todd", "Little Shop of Horrors", and the like.

I usually can't wait for Christmas to come, but this year I'm even more impatient because the "Into the Woods" movie comes out on December 25(Christmas for any dummies out there)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Watch this trailer and tell me in complete honesty that it doesn't look fantabulous:


The only thing that pisses me off is that since it's Disney, they're likely going to neuter some less-than-family-friendly things, like

Rapunzel being crushed by a giant's foot

. Gotta love Disney, the happiest censors on Earth...

Either way, I am more excited than a fan girl hopped up on pixie sticks.

It's honestly not that gritty, until the second act, which osn't very "gritty" either.
