I'm back (early) with thoughts, etc. about the server

So yeah. I couldn't resist checking all the threads, so my leave ended early.

Anyway, hi I'm back to the forums now, with some things to say.

I took a lot of time and effort making this, so I highly recommend you read this whole thread. I am not responsible for any flame wars caused by this thread.

1. Why I'm not leaving

I would have left this community a long time ago had I not joined so early on. But I can't leave it, for 3 reasons:

1. It's hard to force myself not to check the forums
2. I want to help prevent this community from completely destroying itself
3. It's a great way to spend free time

Now I want to emphasize the second reason, which brings me to the second part of the thread (welp, the first one was short).

2. What happened to this place

In the olden days (Dec 2012-Apr 2013), the forum was a friendly, peaceful place. There were almost no spammy/immature members, and nobody thought of flame wars. I myself joined Jan. 10, 2013, 1042nd member to join. The forum stayed that way for a pretty long time. So when did all the crap happen?

It all happened around August 2013, when people started leaving for various reasons. Some left for school, others left because they were bored of the server. Meanwhile, the community expanded more rapidly. More members joined, some to become forum semi-veterans themselves, but also a whole bunch of immature members continuously joined and left, which now forms the bulk of this community.

Eventually, the forum became filled more and more with spammy threads and eventually even intense flame wars. One such notorious war was not noticed until specifically pointed out to a moderator, because the title of the thread didn't sound like something that would cause an intense flame war. The original poster of the thread got perma-banned for stubbornly flaming and insulting members.

Then on November 3, 2013, the forum revamped. Everyone was excited. The layout looked real nice and everything had a fresh start. Flame wars halted for a *short* time. But then they erupted again due to the ever-growing mass of immature, spammy members. All that crap eventually got members permanently banned, and also got some features taken away. The temporary leave thread I made got closed after 8 minutes. 8 freaking minutes. Just because of one member flaming me for no reason.

And why did that happen? This brings us to the third point of this thread.

3. How we can help

We are not to blame for all the flame wars and stuff. The community is expanding by itself as J&H are becoming more and more popular, so there's nothing we can really do to stop the flame wars and spam once and for all.​

What we can do is help the new members and try to guide them through the forums instead of allowing them to spam. This is the best us members can do to minimize the chaos the forum is in.​

 

It sucks to have these things happen to the community.

We just have to stop making little stuff to a big fucking drama and ignore negative comments, you could also usr the report button for it and the moderators can take care of it..

THE REVAMP NEEDS TO HAPPEN
It is needed for one reason, and needed badly for this one reason. More moderators
Idc if im one or not, but id be thrilled to be one, to help, and to end flaming and spamming.
The revamp has to happen soon, or else this cookie will crumble
And i KNOW, you guys agree with me one way or another
