http://files.minecraftforge.net/ Go to this link. Choose the minecraft version. Click "Installer" in the recommended part on your MC version. Once you've downloaded it, double click it to open it. Do not use WinRAR, 7ZIP or any other item such as that while opening it. A menu should come up. Click "Install Client". Nothing else. Next, find the mod you want to download and it's minecraft version. Finally, follow the instructions on the mod page for its download on how to download it. Also, this should be in the "Help" section. @Heatdude Da Waffle
Get forge from the real site. Just type Forge downloads in Google and it is the first link. (Use recommended) After that, just get mods from their PMC/Minecraftforums thread only and drag the file inside the winrar/7zip file into your mods folder. Just make sure it is for forge.
-Done on linux but works the same way on windows- First do a clean install of minecraft. Which means get a new copy. If you already tryed modding and failed you probably messed up some gamefiles. So hit winkey + r and type %appdata% Hit enter Open .minecraft and delete everything but not /saves /options.txt /servers.dat /resourcepacks It should look like this: Now open your launcher and start the game once. As you can see this obtains a new clean install without loosing any settings. If you planning to run optifine turn of vsync in options now or you will stuck with 60fps no matter what you set it to later. Then download forge from http://files.minecraftforge.net/ clicking at "Installer" on the latest build If it get stuck you can remove http://adf.ly/-numbers-/ from the url like http://adf.ly/673885/http://files.m....1207/forge-1.7.10-10.13.0.1207-installer.jar changes to files.minecraftforge.net/maven/net/minecraftforge/forge/1.7.10-10.13.0.1207/forge-1.7.10-10.13.0.1207-installer.jar After you done that execute the jar by doubleclicking it. For linux users I'll post the shell command here. For windows just click on it ;) Windows Linux Executable bit chmod +x has to be set in an non-root shell Shell: $cd Downloads/ $chmod +x forge-1xxx.jar (tab autocomplete) $java -jar forge-1xxx.jar (tab autocomplete) -Installing- $exit Then open your launcher and select forge Forge should now show up. All forge mods now goes to .minecraft/mods. Get there with %appdata% again or click on "open resourcepack folder" in your gamesettings and go one back in fileexplorer. (I find this is easier to use) Hope this clear things up
1: Find good mods on forums 2: Decomplie them, view the source to make sure it's safe (If the author has said that you can't do that I won't do that) 3: Go and find the mods directory and drag the mod in it 4: Enjoy the new mod xD
