i also found out about twenty one pilots through the forums and i purposely left them out of my info page and stuff because people would be like "oh look you're a fake fan!!!111!"
but now im not scared at all.

i found out about all of them on the forums.
if you have a problem with it, you can stay in your lane because my life has become so much better with these artists

The best thing to do is either A.) Ignore them or B.) Know that your music taste is the best music taste for you. Just because someone else has a different music taste or they like a band JUST for the music doesn't mean that they're terrible people or "fake fans"

I did find out about twenty one pilots through the forums, and at first I hated them and their music, but then I listened to more of their music for some reason (I don't remember why) and sure enough I liked them.

HOWEVER, this is just a pet peeve of mine, but when you say that you absolute LOVE a band, however you've only actually listened to 2 or 3 (Stressed Out/Car Radio), you can't really say you're a fan, you just like their music.

Personally, I'm not really a fan.
But frankly, theres enough judgement in the world already.
Do you really need to pick on someones reasons for liking the same music as you? Shouldn't you just be happy that the word is spreading, their fanbase is growing, they're raking in the $$$ ...All signs of success?

 

I'd be happy someone enjoyed the same music as me, as then they would know what I am talking about.

Just let people like music and if they like the same as you, talk about it. It's like video games. We don't pick on each other for liking Minecraft and the sort.

 

If you like something, why do other people judge that? Why do the other people care... You should like what you like.

 

I guess I'm a fake fan in everything, because I have a few songs from every genre that goves me good vibes and determination lmao.

 

I don't really pay attention to the band. I prefer the song itself. The only exception, although very recent, is my binge of Panic! at the Disco. TOP is not one of my favorite artists. The only song I like from them is Stressed Out, and a LOT of people like that one especially since it's #4 on the US Top 50 Songs on Spotify. People are just people and people will be people: There will be misunderstandings, there will be jerks, there will be morons, etc.

preach!!! : ) because I mean you should be happy if somebody is following your footsteps into liking another band. that means, u have inspired them to like a certain band/new song/etc.

like, as i've heard you say before "anybody can be a fan of them" there is no limit, there is no limit to if you're able to listen to their music or not. as long as you ENJOY the music, then i think you're a pretty good fan. if u don't like the music much, then perhaps it's not for you. always good to try new things right?

 

Just 'cause you know one song from an artist, doesn't make you a fake fan. It's not like everyone listens to a whole album before putting themself as a fan. You could like one top song and go to their concert just bc of that one song. "fake fan"

It isn't that they're a fake fan, but it's the difference between someone liking a few songs vs the artist themself. Some
people just like the music and some people like the artist, but there isn't really faking liking something
