Personally, I avoid using any public restrooms for sanitary reasons.

Otherwise, I feel like a restroom is simply a public place where you go to dispose of bodily waste, nothing more, nothing less. There are 2 separate bathrooms due to differing genitalia and how the bathroom is designed. Restrooms are designed, basically, to allow a quick and convenient disposal of waste, clean up, and leave. Thus, we have stalls for women who need to sit/squat and men who can stand and urinate. The separation is based solely on genitalia and nothing more, people with vaginas use one, the other is for people with penises. The gender of who's in there has just been applied by society.

The locker room, it depends. The majority of the population is uncomfortable with being naked in the same room as the opposite biological sex, and the majority of the population is not trans, making trans, gender-"x" people a huge minority. This comes down to the rules and regulations wherever the locker room is, and the feelings of the community that use it.

Above is just the harsh truth we face, and with most modern societies being based on the will of the majority, it's unlikely to change.

I personally believe this person should go in the "male" restroom, due to having biologically male genitalia. If she had the surgery, she can go in the female restroom, but unfortunately, what your brain says it WANTS is just an ideal that it WANTS, and you just have to conform to what's realistically possible. This bathroom thing is not something worth making an issue over. The stigma is based in being uncomfortable with sexual and biological factors, not so much gender of the person, or their identity. Personally, I'm not uncomfortable with trans people, or even traps (which seems so be becoming a thing) using the same restroom as I, I'd just be uncomfortable changing my clothes next to a biological female I don't know/ is not family.

you should be able to identify as what gender you want, and if the people don't agree with them then thats too bad for them cause you shouldn't live your life around someone elses oppinion.

I live in Ohio, Mr. Kasicah or whatever is his name is super phobic yanno so. I've never seen a unisex/gender neutral bathroom.

 

They're a good idea, just never well maintained or executed, some of them borderline dangerous (like most anyways), so it's best to avoid them

Who calls it a 'male' or 'female' bathroom??? Second of all, male doesn't always equal boy and female doesn't always equal girl because your sex isn't the same as your gender. Sex is biological and gender is more of a mental type thing. Really, it's a bathroom and I'm pretty sure most public bathrooms in America call them Girls/Boys bathrooms (they should have more non gender conformative bathrooms though) and girl/boy is a term to describe your gender identity, not your biological sex. For trans people, it is a big deal, even though to maybe it's 'just a bathroom to you' but forcing a MTF girl who is biologically male who doesn't 'look like a girl' and still has masculine features to go into the Man's Restroom could essentially provoke gender dysphoria (I would never personally know the experience) for the individual and basically still labels them as being a boy/man, if that makes sense, when in reality they aren't.

 

Bathrooms are very dangerous, there's been many cases in my area of people being raped, kidnapped, molested etc after people going into "the other" bathroom, or just going into public restrooms in general. Shared restrooms make it seem worse by usually being in low budget buildings, such as gas stations, in sketchy areas. Upscale places often apply "anyone can use this, we're accepting to all" to hide the fact they put little money into facilities. Not to mention, just being honest here, Mens' Restrooms are usually more unsanitary (some dongers are difficult to handle lol), and shared restrooms combine the uncleanliness, thus making it dangerous for your health.

I used male and female just so I could have a word to differentiate, we usually call the Mens' and Womens' restrooms, but I like to mix it up. My point was based on biological sex, not gender. If you are MTF, and still have a penis, like I said, you would go to the room with urinals, as those are designed for "male" genitalia. If it was such a psychological issue where your identity literally prevents you from functioning as a human being and disposing of your waste as in a timely manner, this is not just about bathrooms, you have serious issues and need to see a therapist. I'd rather, and do, just hold it if I feel uncomfortable, I HATE using the bathroom in public, personally. Its VERY awkward in unknown places. If it's an emergency, and you really have no choice, just pee somewhere lol, whether it be either room. Instinct will take over when it comes to waste disposal, no matter what.

Second, lay off @XxLamprophyrexX. He stated his opinion. Isnt that what the point of this thread is anyway? To get peoples opinions? Hes saying that she is getting a different life because of her gender choices. But anyway, people flaming because of someone saying they disagree? Thats stupid tbh. Because someone disagrees doesn't mean their wrong. It means they see something different than you.

To be honest, I don't think this thread is flaming at all. It's a healthy debate about a topic that I have brought up. People aren't bring others down at all. I find it to be quite civil as of now.

 

Like Eli said, this is really the least dramatic thread out there on a controversial topic (in this case it is bathroom rights & gender identity) and I think we're all having a good and calm debate about the topic. @XxLamprophyrexX gave his opinion and we gave our opposing opinion, and he didn't say she was getting a 'different life', he stated (in his opinion) that she was 'ruining her life', which is an entirely different concept. Now, I do respect his opinion (although I disagree) that he doesn't agree with Lila being able to use the girls bathroom, but I personally feel claiming she is 'ruining her life' by transitioning her sex from male to female was a rude remark, and being it is a personal thing for Lila especially, I feel like it wasn't his place to say something like that either.

 

Well, I think all very good points were shared, so I don't have much to say, but I will state my opinion. It will be short.

Yo, when we guys go to the urinals, we just go. No one talks, no one looks anywhere except a certain place because we want to have a good aim. And there are, needless to say, doors on all stalls. The restrooms are a public utility, but it's used for a private affair: emptying waste. So one can just ignore everyone else, relieve some stress, and get on with their day.
The point: because of the way public restrooms are used, no one should be giving a shit about how other people identify and their choice of restrooms. Just do (and mind) your business and your business only.

 

In my opinion i didnt necessarily disagree. I just meant to say. Its a little weird of the gender changing but ayy do whatever you want. Also i wanted to add. If you get bullied about it im sorry but it aint my problem :/ but fight for w/e she wants.
