    In this guide I am going to be explaining to you how you can reduce or even completely remove lag from your game. Minecraft does not need a super computer to run it, most computers can run it, but some with more lag than others, I am going to try to help you remove as much lag as you can.

    [IMG]

    changing your settings is a good start to remove some of your lag, below I will post a picture of the settings I would recommend for a low end PC. These settings will majorly affect how your game looks, and you wont be able to see very far, but if you have a low end PC, it would be better to have a not so nice looking game, than an unplayable game due to low FPS or lag.

    there are a number of mods that are approved on most* servers, the main one that I would recommend is optifine, this increases FPS, gives you more options to change in game to make your PC run at its prime condition.

    *some servers may not approve of optifine, the J and H network allow it.

    there are lots of other ways to prevent lag, some lag may not be your PC, it may be the server you are playing on. Its Jerry And Harry's server seems to run well, and there is not normally much lag, but when the server is lagging, there is not much that you can do to prevent it, only the server owner can, they can upgrade the server they are using. you can make server lag slightly better by getting good internet, different providers are better in different areas, so I cannot recommend one, because their service is better in some places, and not others.

    I hope my guide has helped you, if you have any more questions, please feel free to comment, or PM me.

    Also, make sure you don't have any programs running in the background, which cause lag and low fps. Vanilla Minecraft plus Optifine is probably tge smoothest.

    You should also make sure your drivers are up to date, do dxdiag in Run... in the start menu (Windows) to see what graphics card you have, and search for updates. You can also find this if you go in the graphics config in other games.

    I would suggest 1 of 2 things.

    #1. If you got some money on the side buy a better computer.

    #2. I would try removing some data or like memory that you do not use so you can make it a bit faster I deleted a lot and my computer is super fast now.

    I'm laughing at the irony right now. You make a thread on how to prevent lag, yet you put multiple moving pictures (the words) in the thread. Yes, I know this thread is directed to lag in game, but I still found it humorous.

    Anyway, I agree. I always keep a low render distance, and I use optifine, which really helps my lag problems.

    Also when playing on servers make sure that no one else is doing anything that will hog up the bandwidth.

    Putting your settings to "Max FPS: 20" and "Vsync: on" is probably the worst thing you can do to reduce lag. It just makes it worse. Put your max framerate to "Unlimated" and turn off Vsync. I don't really see the point of making this thread tbh. I know you wanted to help and all, but I think people know that if you don't get the greatest fps, you should turn down your settings.

    One of the biggest causes is also the game resolution that you're playing in. For instance, my monitor and graphics card fully support resolutions from 800x600 - 1920x1080 and can run on minecraft smoothly on every resolution.

    The thing is I get lower framerates on higher resolutions, ill note down the FPS I get on each one.

    800x600 = 300-600
    1024x768 = 350 - 550
    1152x648 = 350 - 500
    1280x720 = 200 - 400
    1360x768 = 140 - 250
    1600x900 = 80 - 150
    1920x1080 = 60 - 100

    To explain resolution too the players that may not understand, resolution = The amount of pixels being displayed on your screen at once. If you're playing on a higher resolution your computer is having too work A LOT harder to display these pixels, which will cause it too lag if you don't have the best build. What i recommend is trying out all of the resolutions your desktop can allow and seeing what gives you the best framerates. Another thing I may want too add is that if your Recommend desktop resolution is rectangular and you have a rectangular monitor play on resolutions such as 1280x720, 1360x768, 1600x900, 1920x1080 (There are more just the main ones) If you play on resolutions that are not included in my list you will be left with black bars on the left hand sides of your screen, which can be annoying too some players. One way too fix this would be too play minecraft on windowed mode and set the resolutions for it too run in ( http://prntscr.com/8aqmo9 - http://prntscr.com/8aqmwl ) This will make minecraft run as a windowed screen on your desktop ( http://prntscr.com/8aqnj2 ) Always put the bigger number first when settings resolutions, unless you want a really weird sized minecraft. Hope this helps you guys somewhat, remember if you have any questions feel free too ask :)

    That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Do you know how a computer works? So you're trying to tell me that you should put your fps at 20, even though said computer can run OVER 20 fps, to make it run faster....? Right..... The only reason you should limit your fps is to reduce screen tearing. And don't even get me started with Vsync.

    I wouldn't recommend limiting your framerate to 20, but do whatever you want ;P

    Also turn your brightness all the way down. It may make everything darker but it helps reduce lag.
