Aww unlucky number 13. Let's go. I'm also going to make an announcement to clear things up at the end of the story.

Chapter 13: Kazuke:LordOfTheMountain​

Why do all these names sound familiar? I'm literally banging my head against the cavern wall until nala and and a red-robed mage showed up. "Hey! How are you doing?" the red mage said, "I'm Kazuke! It's a pleasure to meet you all!" "As said before, he got banished to the mountains for knowing too much. That, and the townsfolk didn't take kindly to him because he's a magic user. I found him on the mountains barely alive so I took him here and nursed him back to health. He's such a nice person. We had to argue which of us was nicer until we finally decided that he would stay here and help me with going into the forest." nala said. "Yes. I love helping nala with picking mushrooms, getting spring water, and other duties!" Kazuke said. "I've been training him in the mystical arts as well. We had an accident one time, but I was able to patch it up thanks to the forest." nala said. nala nudged Kazuke and whispered something like, "Show them your journal," and Kazuke whispered something back that sounded like, "Can I trust them?" nala nudged him more and Kazuke finally took out his red journal. "This is my journal. It told me my name's Kazuke when I woke up in the town. It also said that I can use fire magic, but not very well. I've been training with nala to increase my skill, but to no avail." Kazuke said. "No that's not true," nala said, "you're doing fine." "You don't have to be so nice, nala." Kazuke said. "But I'm serious, Kazuke. You made significant progress since you got here." nala said. "I guess so. Thanks for always making me feel better, nala." Kazuke said. "Don't get down on yourself. You're better than that." nala said. "So who are you guys?" Kazuke asked while turning towards us. Louise went ahead and answered, "We're just like you. Not magic-users. We're journal-holders just like you. We woke up with no recollection of the past. Just what these journals say. Anyway, we banded together because we knew each other's whereabouts as it says here." Louise pointed to the back of her journal where there was nothing there, but she held it to the black light of nala's cave and it said, "Find the others." It pretty much said the same thing my journal said but with different wording. "So what are you guys doing here?" Kazuke asked. "We're kinda banished from the town like you are. Louise kinda assaulted the mayor and Radii here pretty much killed twenty Denpe soldiers by draining out their water from their bodies in the mayor's office so I'm pretty sure that we're not welcome in Denpe anymore." Hamood said. "Radii, Hamood, and I talked with the mayor yesterday and we found out that Mayor Xeno's going to lead the townsmen up the mountain and give offerings to the dragon." I said. "He can't do that!" Kazuke yelled, "He's gonna awake the dragon! I saw it with my own eyes. It almost woke up when he heard my footsteps. Picture what will happen when many footsteps are heard. I predict a catastrophe. We have to stop Xeno at all costs. We should recruit some of my friends. Hamood you can shadow-leap right? Take me and a few people to some houses in the town and get them back here as soon as possible." "That sounds like a plan. So which is first, Kazuke?" Louise asked.

So if you missed it, this is only the first story I'm doing out of the five-book series. I got bored so I'm writing another part for today. Yay!

Chapter 14: BowAndFlame​

Kazuke drew a map of Denpe on the floor of the cavern and pointed to three locations on the map. He pointed to a location in the west part of town and said that that's the location of where he used to live. He then pointed to two locations that neighbored the house he lived in and said, "These are the places we need to get to. I need to give one of my friends this stone while the other is really good at fighting. We secretly hated the government since an incident that happened a while back. " "Okay," Louise said, "Hamood, Radii, and Kono, go with Kazuke to get his friends." Hamood, Radii, and I nodded in agreement. "Oh and before you go Kono, can I see your dagger?" nala asked. "Oh sure." I said while putting my dagger in her hand. nala spoke some weird words I had never heard before and put a thick cord through the hole of the hilt and tied a knot around the hilt. "Okay. You can't see it now, but the dagger will grow until night. At night, the blade should be twice as long. Try fight with it still. It should fight by itself like a serpent. Just put the dagger on your left wrist. As long as the cord senses a heartbeat, it will fight. You'll be fine with it." nala said. "And take this as well. It's a bronze sword I have for emergencies, but with these circumstances, we can't screw up." Hamood said while giving me the sword. "Okay. Thank you so much." I said. Hamood grabbed Kazuke, Radii and I, and we shadow-leaped to the west side of town. It was around noon. We must've gone to the right place because Kazuke teared up when he saw the area. It must've been so nostalgic for him. "We don't have time to waste," Kazuke said, "Hamood, let's get that house over there." Kazuke pointed to the house on the right. Kazuke then pointed to the house on the left and said, "Kono, Radii, can you get the other? His name is Jowl and just say that you're with me and he'll follow orders." "I'm guessing the middle one's yours, right?" I asked. "Ya, it brings back a lot of memories from when we used to screw around, but they're pretty foggy." Kazuke said. We ran to the houses and made sure guards didn't see us. Radii and I entered the house where a young man was cleaning up a table. "Umm can I help you?" the young man said. "Uh, we're looking for someone named Jowl. I'm Kono and this is Radii, and we came with Kazuke to pick you up." I said. We also explained the situation about Xeno and how he's going to end life in the town. "Okay let me get my items. I sure as well won't be coming back." Jowl said. Jowl came back after a few minutes with a bow and quiver on his back. The bow seemed to be able to fall apart for close combat. "Okay let's get going." Radii said. As soon as we walk out, we hear a whistle and turn to our left. We see Kazuke, Hamood, and a girl being surrounded by about 15 guards. "Let's just fight them!" Jowl yells.

Chapter 15: DayBeforeTheEnd​

That was probably the fastest fight in the history of the world. We won, but it was really short. We agreed before that we weren't going to kill anymore soldiers and instead knock them out, so Hamood and I punched and kicked the men, Kazuke strangled them with a fire-worm technique, Jowl used his bow for close combat, and the girl hit them with the hilt of her sword, but with a snap of Radii's fingers, the battalion of fifteen fell instantly. "Well, I just moved all the water in their system up into their throat so they couldn't breathe!" Radii said in a really happy tone. "You really scare me sometimes Radii." I said. "Umm guys? I just realized something. I can't shadow-leap all of us back to nala's cave." Hamood said. "Oh don't worry we can just knock out anyone because we have Radii right?" Jowl said. "Oh yah! We can do that Hamood!" Radii said excitedly. We started heading for the south gate, but I stopped everyone to ask, "Wait, hold on. Who are you?" as I pointed to the girl that was with us. "Oh I haven't introduced her to you and Radii have I. This is Kat and you just reminded me of something." Kazuke said while taking something out of his pocket. "What are you doing Kazuke?" Kat asked while staring at the mage frantically digging through his pockets. "Can you take out your sword? I want to surprise you." Kazuke said while taking out a pouch. Kat unsheathed her sword and gave it to Kazuke. The sword was just a normal one with a blue hilt and a place where a small stone could go. "I found it." Kazuke said. Kat gasped at what Kazuke said. Neither of us knew what was going on except for them. Kazuke took out a small stone that could fit the space in the hilt of Kat's stone and inserted it into the small space. Kazuke gave the sword back to Kat and Kat somehow knew what to do with it. She closed her hand around the hilt of the sword and the sword suddenly erupted in flame. The blade was still there and everything was intact; it's just that flame surrounded the blade. We just stared at the flame until Hamood said, "Let's go! How do we turn that thing off?" "Oh if the stone doesn't sense any contact with its owner or the blade is sheathed, the flame will turn off." Kazuke said. "Okay let's go already." Radii said. We ran to the south gate as Radii knocked out any soldiers that dared to come across our path. We got to nala's cave in a really fast time. When we got there, Jowl and Kat introduced themselves to Louise and nala, and Louise filled them in on the current situation where we needed to stop Xeno from unleashing the dragon. "Hey, we'll do anything to cut that mayor down!" Jowl said, "He's toyed with us for so long and even banished Kazuke from the town. We haven't seen him in forever. We thought he was dead!" "Okay. I'm glad to see you two are on board." Louise said. We all agreed to rest in the cave again. nala was able to make something from what Louise collected from the forest. Louise was still healing from the wounds Xeno left. Tomorrow's the day of the festival. The only way to stop Xeno is to cut him off at the north end of the town. Let's just hope there aren't any disturbances to our plan.

Chapter 16: AVision​

Where am I? "Guard the perimeter and make sure they cannot interrupt my plans!" Wait, I heard that voice before. I open my eyes to find myself sitting in the chair in the mayor's office, like I was before. All I see is Xeno sitting in his chair while looking at some papers. I turn around and I see Ace walking outside with a bunch of other troops. "So that was Xeno ordering Ace to make sure we don't interrupt." I thought. "I can see you, you know." I heard a voice behind me. "Don't worry Kono," Xeno said, "I'm going to make it up to her this way." I tried speaking but it didn't work. I couldn't speak at all. "I sensed something in you and this is it. Only I can see your spirit form. You're not dead; you just drifted off into my office while thinking about me. You're going to wake up soon, so before you go-" Xeno stopped mid-sentence and pulled out a journal and a picture frame. It was like all of ours, but his was this deep shade of blue. The book was also tattered like the book of "legends" Hamood gave me to look at. While staring at the picture frame, Xeno said, "I don't know what these do or why I have one, but they mean something. Something more powerful than we can imagine. I suppose that's what humans are. We think we know everything until we don't. Now go." At the sound of "go," I immediately closed my eyes. I don't know how that worked. It was some kind of force that blew over me. I opened my eyes and I was back at nala's cave. Everyone was already up and eating. "Eyy! Look who's up!" Jowl said. "You don't really look tired for one who immediately gets up." Kat said. Everyone else kept their silence because they already knew what I looked like and how I felt when stuff like that happens. "Oh shut up." I said, "Hey can I talk to you guys about something?" "Sure." Louise said. Louise looked really healthy compared to last night. I wonder if nala put something inside that soup. "When I was dreaming, I saw Xeno and he actually talked to me." I said, "It was the most real thing I've experienced in a dream." At that moment, nala's wooden fork dropped on the table. "What's wrong?" Radii asked. "Visions." nala mumbled, "You can see them?! They often hold something important. This isn't a future vision, but it's just a vision. Explain what you saw." I explained everything: how Xeno went on about not interrupting his plans, how Xeno went on about "her," how he has a journal. "He has a journal?! That bumbling nitwit has a journal?!" Louise screamed. "Apparently he does." I said. "This can't be happening. This can't be happening!" Louise yelled. "What does this mean?" I ask. "I don't know! If he's one of us, what is he doing?!" Louise screamed. "Regardless, we have to stop him." Hamood said.

Okay I'm sorry. This chapter isn't as action-packed as the rest, but it gives insight and background right? Anyway, thanks for reading! Please leave feedback and comments and requests below!

Chapter 17: Second​

The day finally arrived when we faced Xeno in battle. After a well-made brunch compliments of nala, we headed towards the portal room where I saw nala's cat form before. Louise looked at all of us and said, "Are you ready to fight?" We all cheered and headed to the outside. It was in the afternoon and we could hear festivities going on. We could only hear people cheering while we were inside the town, but now we could hear them whilst outside the town. Knowing what will happen if that festivity reached the mountain, we decided to cut them off at the mountain. Hamood couldn't shadow-leap us over there, so we ran to the north gate straight from nala's cave, around Denpe's walls. It seemed that they were just going to embark up the mountain soon, so we ran as fast as we could. "Halt!" a voice said. We didn't know where it came from, but at that instant, we heard a bunch of bows firing up. Radii, Kazuke, and nala stopped the arrows before they could hit any of us. We turned towards the castle walls to find a row of 20 soldiers on the walls and a soldier with a brown plumage on his helmet. "I'm Twage, second-in-command to Ace, and I can't allow you ruffians to stop the towns-folks' activities! Now, I'm going to have to ask you to return from where you came from, or I'm going to need to report you all to Ace. This is your first warning." the soldier with the brown plumage said. At that moment, I saw an arrow fire from our side and it hit one of Twage's soldiers. We all turned towards Jowl and he said, "What? We're gonna kill them all anyway!" "I suppose so," Louise said, "let's just avoid them and get to Xeno already." "Come back here! You can't just kill one of my soldiers without a fight! You know what!" Twage yelled. Twage and his battalion of 19 jumped off the wall and took out their swords. "We're not giving up without a fight!" Twage said. "Radii. All expect for him." Louise said. Radii flicked her fingers and the battalion just slumped down, all except for Twage. Louise went up to Twage and did the same exact thing she did to Xeno. She grabbed him, kneed him and threw him onto the ground. "Listen you, you're only alive to protect the people of this village. Your men will awaken in a few minutes. I'm going to need you to take as many people from this town and evacuate. Evacuate to the ocean or the forest." Louise said while turning to Radii, "Radii, can you tell your people to let people through and give them air." "On it." Radii turned towards the ocean and put two of her fingers to her temples. "It's done." Radii said. "Good. Trust me Twage. This is your first warning." Louise said. She threw him onto the ground again and signaled us to run to Xeno's area. We arrived at the north gate and we saw Xeno in blue robes and holding a scepter. "Today, my friends! We're going to make history!" Xeno said.

Chapter 18: Ascension​

"We're gonna climb this mountain and give offerings to the dragon! He doesn't exist, but we shall pay tribute to the legend that was made out of this town!" Xeno yelled. "Mommy! What does this mean?" said a small child. "We're celebrating peace between us and the dragon." the woman carrying the child said. At that moment, the towns-folk started cheering and marching towards the mountain. "Oh no." Louise said, "Xeno's starting the festivities. It'll only be a matter of time until they reach the mountain. We can't kill or knock out any of the villagers or they'll totally turn against us." "Let's hide behind those rocks for now." nala suggested. We hid behind the rocks that were near the entrance of the mountain trail and Hamood suggested, "Okay. I can't shadow-leap all of us to the top of the mountain, so we could try following them in the back." It sounded like a plan that would get us caught, especially by the guards who were patrolling the back of the crowd, but it was the best we had. We all surrounded Louise and had Jowl and Kat in the front. We then approached from behind the crowd so that Jowl and Kat looked like they were just happy villagers wanting to join in the festivities. We decided to slowly creep up to where Xeno was in the front of the crowd while the festival music was playing and the sun went down. The sky got to a really pretty deep-purplish red as the sun set. We got to the mountain base and there was a mountain path leading into a cave on an elevated level. "Well, once we get up this mountain! We will leave offerings at the entrance of the cave! We will also end the ceremony with a prayer led by our very own SS_Ace!" Xeno yelled. At that moment we heard a rumbling and the shockwave spread from the mountain cave. Most of us, villagers, and guards lost our balance and fell onto the ground. Xeno struggled to get up when Louise jumped out of the protective circle we made. "Xeno!" Louise said, "This has gone on for far too long! Now, why would you awaken the dragon?!" The villagers looked confused and talked amongst themselves until one of them yelled, "Wait, so it's not an urban legend and we've all been living near a dragon imbued with a hatred of humans this whole time?!" The villagers started panicking until Xeno said, "It's still an urban legend! These guys have just been toying with us the whole time to give us a marvelous show! Bravo! Now let's get going to the top shall we?" Xeno grabbed Louise and whispered something to her. After all was done, Louise just said, "Let's get going. We can't stop him. It's just us against them. That's all us humans will ever be. We're just going to keep fighting until one wins. We might as well just join Xeno's side. It really is just- an urban myth." We were all saddened to hear what Louise had to say, but then even more rumbling came: a quake that was stronger than the last. All of us fell to the ground while a mighty roar echoed into the air. "I- it's real. My plan worked." Xeno said. He turned towards Louise and said with a smile, "I'm finally making it up to you."

SneakPeek: Anger​

Uggh. What. What just happened? All I remember is. I remember everything: Denpe, Louise, nala, everyone. Even Xeno. "---l t-- ---ch!" What? I can't hear anything. I can barely hear what that voice was. Let me try again. "--ll th- --tch!" Nope. Still can't hear anything. Wait, are my eyes closed? I open my eyes to see a horrifying site. I appear to be in a port town, but I see fire. I hoped that that wasn't the dragon again. I turn toward the flame to see normal villagers with torches in hands, throwing them into some sort of pit. I can barely see, but I see a human figure on a cross in the pit. It can't be. Humans turning against each other, again? But the figure's clothes in the pit were somehow different than all the other's. They looked like tattered- robes. That's when I heard it again. "Kill the witch! Burn in the fiery depths of Hell!"

Chapter 19: Xeno'sFolly​

"What do you mean you're making it up to me?! Hundreds of people are going to die now!" Louise yelled over the rumbling in the ground. The ten of us were on the ground as villagers fled the mountain. "Ace! Get the Denpeians out of here! Take them to the ocean!" Xeno yelled. "Roger!" Ace yelled while commanding his men to get the villagers to safety. "Okay! I understand it's crazy that I remember all of this, being that it was a long time ago and we shouldn't have any recollection of it because of these things," Xeno yelled while getting out his journal, "but the memories seem so real from what I read in this journal! I really hurt you before!" "What in the world are you talking about?!" Louise screamed, "I remember pretty much nothing of meeting you! There's no way I could've met you a long time ago!" "Oh but we have. This is why I wanted to awaken the dragon!" Xeno said. "XENO! There's no way that I could've met you with that stuck-up family of yours! My family and your family are eternal enemies! Let me spell out for you: E-N-E-M-I-E-S. ENEMIES!" Louise screamed. "Heh heh, just like I remembered. Louise, you know that inn? It used to be much smaller: just a house. My parents gave it to your parents as a peace offering. Your parents accepted it as well as their freedom in the town. Now, when we were young, we used to play a lot together. We even went to the outside and back unharmed. That's what my parents told me. It seemed that we would be the ones to maintain peace in Denpe. But one day, we got separated as our families started disliking each other again. I wanted to make amends with you when I got the mayoral position, so I sent carpenters to tear down the house and give a much bigger space. I don't know if you remember that, though." Xeno said, "This was the only way that I could see you again. I knew you lead a resistance against me, so I knew if I did something that would threaten the lives of the villagers, you'd stop me." "But why would you do that?! They're all gonna die and it's all your fault!" Louise said. "Frankly, I don't give a damn about Denpe. It can burn to ashes. That's what you want to think right? This town was built by your people, cherished by your people, raised by your people, yet my family took that away. This is why I wanted to awaken it. I would've started the cataclysm early so that you can build it from the ashes like your family did. I hate the corruption, greed, and selfishness my family had. It tainted my reputation as one who makes sure that everyone has a good time, and then I noticed you. I found you in my memory, and I tried all I could to make it up to you. I really wanted to make sure we were friends again." Xeno said. The rumbling stopped and fire came out of the cave above us. "Well it's too late now." Louise said as she thrust her arms around Xeno, "I forgive you for what you did. Now let's get everyone to the ocean before the dragon gets out of the cave."
