So my current Asus laptop has gotten to the point where it can barely run 1.8 labymod. It needs to be replaced.
I am also moving into my own apartment soon so I figured now would be a great time to get a legit desktop. I have a rough idea on what I want but am also looking for suggestions. Here is a bit of an outline/list of what I'm looking for
    • Prebuilt PC desktops only. I get that lots of you like to build PCs and that's cool. It is not for me.
    • I want something in the AMD Ryzen 7 or Intel i7 range with at least 16 ram and 500 GB storage
    • I'm not as picky about the graphics card but something that is good, but not overkill.
    • Budget of 2000 USD.
The PC that has appealed to me the most so far is an Alienware Aurora R12 or R10.

If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. Thanks!

I'll spare you a rant about prebuilt pcs I guess

If a prebuilt is what you're looking for, you can go to some websites such as cyberpowerpc and nzxt for example, they have plenty of options and some of them you can customize yourself if there are certain things you have to have. I think they also have peripheral options if you need those too.

If you have any questions or just want like a recommendation or something you can always hmu on discord and i'll try to see what I can do, at least when i have the time to look into it

I have a cyberpowerpc prebuilt and it's pretty nice
intel core i7-9700k, nvidia geforce rtx 2070 super, 16gb ddr4 ram, 1tb ssd are the major specs
sadly can't find a link for it, but it was around 1500. I bet it went up though because the 2070 is going for a bit rn
    just don't get alienware

why do you want prebuilt? literally just a waste of money. you could go to a local repair shop and get it built for you for super cheap lol

i've never seen a repair shop that builds whole computers for you if you ask
also building one from scratch yourself is annoying as fuck unless you know what you're doing other than youtube tutorials
either that or i'm just dumb as fuck

Normally I would suggest people to try and build their own PC but seeing the current state of the GPU market, it's probably better to buy a prebuilt now honestly.

So based on build quality and customer support I would pick either Digital Storm or Maingear.
Avoid Alienware (Just their PCs and laptops. If you find a good deal on an Alienware monitor, buy it) and Walmart Overpowered.

What makes building your own ''not for you''? It's very simple and gives you a good understanding of your computer as well.
Doing the research, doing the time, doing the building let's you understand what a part does and can help you in the future to save money.
Now you spend a big buck on a medium buck pc, whilst you can spend less and get a top of the line pc. In a few years when it slows down, you can use your critical thinking ability to figure out which part to replace instead of buying an entire new pc again.

I'm usually pro-build your own BUT.... sometimes it comes down to urgency and when you're building your own parts don't always come together and sometimes have long shipping times.

I've never been a fan of building stuff. I don't really want to deal with putting it together and hoping I don't fuck something up. If I get a prebuilt PC and it doesn't work that's a warranty claim. If I build my own PC and fuck it up that's another however many dollars to buy a new part. Plus, I really don't have time to do the research and buy the stuff right now. Also also, at least in the States, there are massive supply issues that I don't want to mess with.
Again, if you like building your own PC more power to you, and it is probably the smarter option. I would rather just pay the extra bit of money to have it done for me.

Although you do have a relatively large budget to work with, may I ask why you chose those specs?

I'm not sure if you play games, do some rendering or editing, or if your job requires you to use rather intensive applications but if you're really just going to play Minecraft and nothing else, you can save yourself a couple hundred dollars and still get something that's future proof.

gpu market is in shambles so I just found a sale on a gaming laptop
may be a terrible investment but I'm not spending an additional $300 for a 3070 when I can get a 1650 ti for $100 off
