anyone here likes classical music? who are your favorite composers, compositions or performers? seriously, ever since i really got into it, i just cant get over how stigmatized this shit is for being boring despite how fun and diverse classical is personally: liszt, bach, xenakis, satie, ravel, penderecki, ligeti, shostakovich, reich, feldman, webern and eastman are personal favorites
Nine out of ten times I do not, I often find it giving me a headache or an uneasy feeling of restlessness. I do agree with you on how diverse it is, my grandparents always made me listen to classical and you can really tell the difference between composers.
Liszt and bach are at the top of my list as well followed by stravinsky brahms prokofiev If heifetz were born in an era of good recording technology that'd be great, but I have no complaints for our current performers. I quite like hillary hahn. Favourite compositions is always hard, you'll get new ones every time you ask lmao Currently bachs goldberg variations, great collection and bachs keyboard concerto no. 5 in f minor, third movement specifically.
Speaking of performers born before good recording technology, have you ever listened to Nejiko Suwa? Really like the 1933-1935 early recordings collection. It was taken off YouTube, but I have the files, just ask me if you're interested. Truly an amazing performer, with a crazy backstory as well.
Absolutely based bump What compositions? I'm personally obsessed with his string quartets (2 and 15 especially) and his jazz suite
