The most untoxic community

Hey!

So recently I have been thinking about community and toxicity, cancel culture in all forms and general drama. How damaging it can be and how just horrible it is to watch and hear. I've also been resonating more and more with communities outside of my comfort zone for example music genres, art forms and most recently common Instagram social communities like friends and what not.

I think mainly communities cant be judged as some a big and some are small with only some people sharing an interest with that specific thing. Communities in general are subjective whether things are good or bad but luckily this can be seen on how welcoming and comforting and untoxic communities are.

Now this doesn't effect number of people in those communities or areas, for example creative on this server isn't toxic yet its dead ass a dodo bird but kitpvp is toxic as the black sea and it thrives. But enjoyment levels can certainly differ regardless of amount of people. People who leave toxic communities often feel happier in themselves, but of course this is not always the case because some people like toxicity and drama which is OK.

The main point of this thread is to talk about the community I feel is one of the least toxic there is, beatboxing.

If you didn't know, beatboxing is the art of making songs, sounds and grooves using only your mouth, nose, throat, vocal cords etc. A verbal orchestra I guess. This can range from things like singing to drum kits to dubstep to even trumpets.

The beatbox community is small, it's no where near the size of singing and other instruments understandably.

You've probably heard beatboxing before now, either "Father Daughter beatbox battle" "The best beat boxer you'll ever see" or "Tetris beatbox" to name a few. The majority of responses are "Wow that's cool" and then they get on with their lives. Under the shell though is what I believe to be one of the least toxic communities there is, due to a few key factors.

1. Competition: beatboxing is treated like a sport within the community, say like freestyle parkour or skateboarding. It has competitions hosted by all sorts of agencies and companies. These are cleverly designed to include "Wildcards" where people can upload clips to YouTube to be in with a chance of winning and entering the final few. Like an audition if you will. This allows people to showcase their skills and be features easier by winning competitions and climbing the scale.

2. Community in general, The beatbox community has plenty of ways to interact, mainly discord, YouTube and live events, discord servers allow beatboxers beginners and professionals to jam and train together. YouTube allows people to showcase their skills to people from around the community and live events allow people to get together and enjoy what they love the most.

And the main reason I feel the community is so comforting is the fact beatboxing isn't something people are born with typically. It's very very rare, because of this the majority of people know how hard it can be to learn certain sounds and technics and this brings everyone together and encourages people. Sure people learn at different rates but no one in the community is toxic about the speed they learnt.


Communities are an interesting thing to think about and are very important in our lives. I really do believe beatbox is one of the most nice and positive one, the beatbox "family" if you will haha.
