while there are tons of threads asking what your favorite music/movie/unpopular opinion/type of pizza is and whatnot, i don't think i've seen any thread asking the community their passions and interests. however, i've realized that most people on this website are not as much of losers at it may seem on the surface.

so, let us know: what do you know a lot about? what do you love to do and learn about?

    personally:
    • i love music, especially the discovering and appreciation of all sorts of music available to me. i try to develop my musical library as much as possible and i love to listen to stuff i have never heard before. i'm so happy to live in a generation where i have decades of music available at my fingertips for free (or for a ridiculously low price)
    • i am a theatre aficionado, both with plays and films (but mostly, especially plays). i love to watch, read and do plays and i am an aspiring actor. i don't watch movies all that often, but i sometimes love a good movie, especially with repertoire films (classics, non-american cinema, avant-garde stuff, etc)
    • i am fascinated with linguistics and i love language learning and knowing about the origins of words, the history of languages and how they relate to other stuff like geography. it's something that's very important to me and i believe that more people should take a look into trying to learn other language(s) (especially in english-speaking countries)

I really enjoy drawing and painting. I’m not too great at it, but it’s always been a way to relax and tap into a more creative and open-minded part of myself. I also enjoy playing my flute.

I’d have to say my biggest passion is learning. I’ve always loved school even if it’s exhausting or annoying. Science and geography are fascinating to me, and I plan to become a doctor (specifically a neurologist) when I’m older (´∀`) Learning languages is also quite interesting, and I’ve been teaching myself/taking lessons for German for years now

Anything related to war and crazy places in the Middle East is super interesting to me. It's an entire world almost fully unimaginable to most Westerners and there's SO much going on there. If anyone's interested I have several amazing action TV series to recommend.

I also love electronics, programming and economics! Hoping to study one of the topics in University one day.

I'm kinda boring ngl. Painting is pretty fun sometimes, I like music but so many different bands it's impossible to explain who is my favourite lol. I also wrestle in an independent promotion near where I live soooo.

Oh and I absolutely hate the UK

I like maps. I have since I was a little kid, just love looking at borders and playing geography games. basketball is life. I play basketball for at least 2 hours a day, play nba 2k20, I have a bunch of bucks(favorite team) apparel. I have nba league pass, so I can watch every game. football and baseball are tied for my interest, they're not as action-packed as basketball.

might not expect it, but I absolutely love math. I can do math all day, I find it very fun and unlike any other subject when it comes to homework.

I also am a trump hater, I think he should be killed.

I'm a former athlete. I played basketball and football in middle school and quit when I transitioned to high school. During the summers I still do flag-football leagues which have more competition than you'd expect. After every year, a coach volunteers to pick players from each team to create an all-star team which goes to compete in other places. Last year I was picked. I'm also a basketball nut and love to go play recreational (not very good at it, but that's not to be mentioned).

Other than that, I love watching sports. I follow the NBA for the most part and take place in both the NBA and NFL fantasy leagues. Every now and then I'll pick myself up to work out - I love cardio... I had a 4.9ish 40-yard run which I consider an achievement. I stopped training shortly after that, plus I was younger.

I say it a lot; but anything about video, video editing, filming, music... I'm crazy about it. I'm an aspiring filmmaker and I'm in progress with some short films. I'm a professional video editor - I've worked for a lot of youtube channels.

A school nut... I can't stand not getting an A in a class at this point. I'm really fucking excited to go to college and study film. I have a few ideas for companies I may try out also. I go to one of those techy schools that focus on certain areas, mine does I.T.
I chose it because it's very easy to get college credits - in fact, I took World History AP in my sophomore year which I did well for my age on.

I like politics. My parents are all local election volunteers and my mom actually helped to run an election for a representative.

    • Athletics have always been a huge part of my life. I started off by learning how to ski at 3 years old, and I've continued to ski every winter because I truly don't know what else I would truly do to kill some time. I started my high school's alpine ski team during my freshman year and a year later, I joined a nearby mountain's club team which was truly time-consuming but so worth it. When it wasn't too cold out, I was rowing in the fall and spring while still exercising in the winter for our "pre-season", with cross-country (fall), track, and lacrosse (spring) on top of that. I always wanted to keep myself busy with sports and I knew that I wanted to continue ski racing and rowing when I move onto the next chapter of my life, college. I now go to a Division 1 university and I'm a coxswain for our rowing (crew) team. I am the head of out-of-state recruitment this year and I'm truly excited about being able to advertise our team to schools around the country, hoping to get new people to join and try out for the team! I've had the experience of working with youth Team USA last summer and Dartmouth University's crew team which was truly an unforgettable experience.
    • I am also very into linguistics and wanted to expand my horizons on cultures and their languages. I currently know English (of course), Latvian, and French, with a year of Mandarin under my belt as well. The next language that I would love to learn is either Japanese or Korean because I would love to get to visit one of those countries sometime in the nearby future if COVID seems to tone down a bit.
    • I am very much into politics but with everything going on, I refuse to have any sort of conversation about it with those around me.
    • Something that I didn't think I would have any interest in is learning about diseases. I have that part of me that likes to learn about the causes of certain infections and how medical professionals have been able to handle these situations with the technology that we've invented over the years. Seeing the evolution of these technologies and learning how certain theories came around as a result of these discoveries from ten's to hundreds of years ago is truly astonishing. It leads to me having a passion to work for the CDC once I either receive my Master's or Ph.D.

even though i don't really see myself having a career in this in the future, one of biggest passions is helping people. i always try to make someone's day better even if it's a stranger i don't really know. before schools shut down, i was in a program called peer group connection and it's when a bunch of seniors are trained to assist freshman in making a smooth transition from middle school to high school. we talked to freshman about their feelings, what to do and what not to do, and honestly i got so much positive feedback from the freshman i talked to and they said i really improved their year. i'm super upset that i couldn't say bye to them before i graduated but, i'll still try to keep in touch with them.

i was also part of a club called glamour gals. this was a volunteer club and every week we would go to a nearby retirement home and we would just talk to elderly people and make their day. (it's called glamour gals because we would paint their nails if they wanted it but honestly that rarely happened) a lot of the people there were forgotten by family and they just needed someone to talk to to make their day. the entire club got a lot of positive feedback from the elderly, and our school, so much that we were given awards. i regret not coming back to the club senior year but i wanted to focus all my energy into peer group connection.

i honestly thought i would end up majoring in communications or psychology to become like a guidance counselor or a therapist. i ended up favoring computer science so that's what i chose as my major for college.

Something that I'm incredibly interested in and am very excited to go more in depth with in college is how the brain works and why we have certain responses to things that happen in our lives. I am fascinated by psychology and can't wait to major in it, I do a lot of research in my free time about different disorders and defense mechanisms our brains have in response to different traumas or misfortunes in our lives. I plan on becoming either a psychologist for people with disabilities or a therapist, but either way helping people is the main goal. I've been decided on this for quite a while because I know how it feels to go through so much at a young age but felt like I had to grasp it all on my own simply because I could, but I shouldn't have had to. I want to be there for the next generation of kids and give them a safe space that I wish I had. Being the "therapist friend" of my friend groups has honestly paid off because it made me realize that I am actually pretty good with advice and am a good listener. I think I have a lot of potential and I just want to use it for good.

Another passion of mine is writing. While I don't think very highly of myself I do think that I am pretty talented when it comes to my writing, however I would never make a profession out of it. I tend to get very unmotivated when I am forced to do something that I normally like doing. For example if I am told what to read I just won't do it. I could never turn writing into a profession because one, it simply is just too much of a gamble since not a lot of people make it as an author, and two, I fear that if I am forcing myself to do this because it is what I have to do, I will no longer find joy in it. I'd rather keep it as a hobby to keep my love for it.

I write comic ideas in my spare time, and having some good fun with photography. I will draw those comic ideas eventually when a semester finally finishes, bc I'm in design major I dont really have time to draw anything I actually want during active college semester

I used to be so interested in world politics and history, but now I dont really have time to read world politics so I still often join political discussions, but about local Indonesian politics, very fun times
