okay so basically- i'm gonna learn guitar soon. i have no idea where to start. should i get an acoustic? electric? a bass? an acoustic bass? for the most part i'm learning so i can cover songs from nirvana, bon iver, neutral milk hotel, and rex orange county. will also be writing songs like these guys if that helps.
acoustic best first choice imo. bought one a year-ish ago and I've made a lot of progress. worth the money cause it calms me down, and it's generally fun to play. plus it's like $150 less than an electric guitar pepega
Acoustic Guitars are easier to just take out and play wherever whenever. It's also good for beginners because you don't need to learn how to use an amp or buy an amp. Acoustic also is safer to play with your hand instead of with a pick if that's how you want to learn.
disagree with the people above electric guitars are easier to play so you'll be less likely to give up you can't play rock on an acoustic guitar you can play it unplugged or with headphones and not disturb everyone in the house you can get an electric guitar for just as cheap as an acoustic nowadays you don't need to buy an amp. it's 2020 and we have a thing called computers now that can emulate the sound of an amp. you can even use an iphone app
so what would be a good price for a half decent electric? i see some going for 150 but i'm going on a whim and gonna assume that those suck
honestly dog? ukulele. they're far from cool, hardly impressive, although an excellent ((cheap!!)) beginner's string instrument. if learning tunes is a goal u can play TONS of pop songs very easily, and ideally it will help with managing a fretboard etc etc. afterward you could purchase an acoustic guitar. however, hands down, basic electric is essential before trying to play acoustic and goring yr fingers.. lol
