Lately I've been seeing a lot of threads that bring up some good memories I've had with Minecraft/IJAH and I want to collect all of those memories here. Feel free to comment below with any of your good memories with Minecraft/IJAH that give you nostalgia when you think about a certain thing.

Back before carpets were a thing, I would play in skin competitions on people's Skyblock islands. They would block us in [like a normal skin comp. would] and put a sign on the top which either said "in" or "out" and the winner got diamonds or something. I remember cheating and seeing if I was in or not before having the block broken in front of me by going into F5 and if I lost I would just go back to my island.

I also remember my first survival world in Minecraft. I typically only played in creative, as I was too scared to encounter any mobs. I had a house on an island and it was on top of a cave. Like, I build it around a cave entrance. This was way back in 1.1 where new things were being added. I set the difficulty to easy, but got scared when I saw a spider so I turned it back to peaceful. I still saw the spider and logged out of the game because of how frightened I was. 9 year old me really hated spiders. I logged back in to still see the spider there. I cried in my little wooden house. In the morning when I went to investigate, it was two roses side by side. I broke them out of anger and distrust that it would turn into a spider when night came again.

My first house that looked "decent" was followed by this tutorial. I spent about half an hour looking for this video and I'm so happy that I finally did find it. I love this house so much-- I might re-build it in a survival world or something. I remember trying to make a fireplace inside but it ended up burning down the house. I cried and rebuilt it. It took me three or four hours to re-create it piece by piece because I kept having to pause the video to understand what to do.

Anyways, what are some memories that you have of early day Minecrafting?

Minecraft was a getaway game for me. A way to distract myself from the world around me. My friend introduced it to me what seems like forever ago (it's been about 7-8 years since I first discovered Minecraft). I got onto a creative world and just built a house. It was way before I had an account and didn't understand how to do anything. I learned and just grew up with it. My mom thought Minecraft would be a game I'd play for a few months and then get bored of, oh boy how wrong she was. I've played it ever since. It still makes me sad at the thought that it died no matter what. If someone plays the music, I'll immediately know that it's from Minecraft and just think about the good old days. Man, how much I miss it. :/

My first time playing Minecraft was in the first quarter of 2012 and I rember playing it on the crappiest laptop imaginable. My lag was so bad that I believed for a while that you were supposed to repeatedly click the mouse button to break blocks. My first world was in a jungle biome too so I lagged extra bad and just got used to it. I built a dirt house and did not really know what to do after that. Over the next few months I learned that you actually had to make a crafting table (I know I was a mega noob) and go from there. Eventually I discovered ways to lower my lag (basically put everything on the lowest possible settings). I'll never forget seeing my first creeper enter my house and blow everything up. It gave me a huge heart attack. A friend from school showed me around and told me of a few servers he knew about and J/H was one of them, and I joined within the first month or two of it existing. Eventually my friend got bored of this server but I became so interested in the factions and the community that I stayed for a very long time.

At the time I was still in my starting years of middle school which absolutely sucked so Minecraft (and specifically the J/H server) was a place for me to go to get away from the annoyances of middle school. It was a great game for a long time. Of course high school started and I became much too busy to keep up with Minecraft that much anymore, and I believe the last update I actually remember playing Minecraft for was 1.7 or 1.8. Now we're almost on 1.14 (wow). I am now in college and have recently started up a new single player world to play every now and then after many years of not playing to see what's changed in all those updates and I like thinking about my first time downloading the game and figuring it out.

When I was in middle school just a few years ago, I often found myself doing the same thing. Sometimes if we were in the computer lab, I would download Minecraft and fool around for fun.

I remember after building my first house in Survival, I went mining for shit (I knew about Minecraft a while before finally getting it, and thought the point of it was to mine until you find cool stuff). I hoped I would be finding diamonds, but I wasn’t finding anything useful besides iron (I was digging barely below ground so of course I wasn’t gonna find anything. Back then, I didn’t know what depth you needed to get to). Eventually I got frustrated and wanted to leave the mine. Instead of retracing my steps, I decided to dig my way upward where I was and see what I can find on the surface. I got into a forest and went collecting wood. It was nighttime.

Eventually I went pretty far into the forest and mobs started attacking me. So I knew it was time to go. But I didn’t know how to get back because I was lost. So I started panicking a bit because all of my stuff was at home. I started looking around trying to retrace my steps (back in the day I was really bad at remembering where I went, so this was an actual challenge) all while mobs were attacking me. Eventually I decided to hide in the ground and wait till day time. I thought my stuff was done for. So when day finally came I got out and just started strolling around, disappointed. Then I stumbled upon a spot where I dug myself out and realized I found my way back. I was so happy back then to finally store everything safely.

I know it isn’t much but back in the day, it was quite an adventure and it was exciting to finally find my house again and know I am safe.

Another great memory was the first time entering the J&H server and seeing all these people around. I was really excited and checked out everything it had to offer. Eventually I got into survival and got recruited by one of the factions (after I pestered them enough to add me :D) I built a modest house there and fucked around with them. They were very nice and it felt good being part of a community. At some point most of them left and I quit as well.

Then I joined factions and it was by far the most fun thing I remember about J&H. People were treacherous and it was quite a struggle trying to make myself something there (and I never actually succeeded being entirely honest) and I never actually got good at PvP. But I got the best friends on Minecraft there. Some stuck with me regardless of how bad of a leader I might’ve been, and most of my plans involved escaping the moment any mild threat occurred. We weren’t good, but the few times we got a good raid (the Aussies faction comes to mind, they built a huge settlement that it felt satisfying to conquer) it felt amazing. Eventually one of the friends betrayed me and took everything we’ve built and even tried to steal my faction name at one point and kicked everyone from my faction. It was heartbreaking at the time, as that person seemed to be one of the more loyal of the bunch.

It’s truly a shame what factions and survival became eventually :(

Man, I remember a lot from my years of playing J&H. From Clubs on Creative to The Original Skyblock Spawn.
Here are a few Images from the past times.
(Note: Going back into the past isn't the greatest as you seem. I would say we remember 95% of the good memories but only 5% of bad memories. All the other bad memories may have been forgotten. It's better to see the good in the bad!)
    Oh and uhh... <o/
P.S. I go farther back than this. I removed pictures in like 2015.

i've played this game for almost 5 years, i can say i loved every day of it.

i remember clocking hours into oitc with nixisawesome. though i don't talk to him anymore (for reasons that should be apparent), i love the fact that i had a friend back then who actually cared about talking to me everyday, that shit was cool, especially for a 4th~ grade me.
i remember putting even more hours into mineplex. whatever it was, sg, mixed arcade, nano games, the holiday games, i was always on there. i remember all the rage moments, too. shit was funny
i remember the days when badlion was still around. holy fuck, the amount of hours i clocked into the 1v1s on there LMAO. fr, i didn't even play pot or anything, i just played shit like builduhc and soup.
the hours i put into skywars... yeah, this was before bedwars was a thing so...

i even remember the first 5 seconds of the first server i played.

i'm sad that all of that's gone now.

    oitc is dead
    mineplex is dead
    badlion is gone
skywars is... okay skywars is still a thing
    nixisawesome? more like nixisgone

but, i'm looking forward more than i am looking back.
    make memories, kids. :)

Perhaps my best memories of Minecraft come from the earliest days I ever played it. The sound of the music brings me back, remembering my very first favorite server. SkyDoesMinecraft's old server, at-least one of them because he had multiple. Had many great games, worlds, such as tf2, survival games, spleef, creative, and capture the wool. I'm not afraid to say that I was addicted to that server back then, because it was just so fun. My first time of many role-playing on their creative server, and I met and knew so many people from there. I'll never forget winning my first survival games, or perhaps the saddest memory of them all: being forced out of the server because of my last login being in a previously closed mini-game. Never was able to join again. My best memory is unknowingly playing the server all the way until 4am, time had flew by because of how much fun I was having. That was probably one of my first responsible moments where I told myself that it was getting out of hand, and I forced myself into bed. Only got a couple hours of sleep that night, but I handled it better because I was younger.

What a time it was. My life would not be the same without this great game.

Sadly I had all the old screenshots on my other computer which passed away in 2017 in November, but I remember all the player towers, MineFighter being alive, playing with ItsHarry or Jerry once with my friend, talking to him in Teamspeak. My, the memories.
