Logan Paul's screwup

By that logic all the criticism RiceGum got was wrong because it could've driven him to suicide. Remember, Logan Paul is a giant celebrity, and when you're a celebrity, you should know that people will hate you when you do terrible things.

 

That's a terrible point; that's tantamount to saying news and media monopolies shouldn't be covering taboos such as this because people should be "shielded" from it.

The general public's reaction that spiralled is what caused the video to be removed in the first place. What, do you think people should have suppressed their abhor for the content and allow it to churn through his core audience as if it was nothing? Personally, I'd rather have the contention brought forward to shed some common decency on the situation so it can at least act as a deterrence for content providers in the future.

Just because someone apologizes doesn't make it okay.

 

But the fact that Logan went through the process of recording, getting closer to the hanging body, talking about it, saving the video, editing the video, and uploading the video online doesn't justify the opinion that Youtube are at fault. In the first place if Logan had had any common sense and known not to upload a video of a real dead body hanging off a tree none of this controversy would have happened, so it's not really Youtube's fault for "not deleting it", it's more Logan's fault for ever making and uploading the video.

That said, Logan obviously did upload it and we can't change that so yes of course Youtube could and should have deleted the video or at least not allowed it to go trending but it was unbelievably stupid and insensitive of Logan to upload it at all.

I feel like some people are making such a massive deal of it because they already hated him. This just gives them a better reason to. He went from "He's a dumbass and his videos are annoying." to "OMG HE'S A SOCIOPATH I CAN'T BELIEVE ANYONE ON EARTH COULD EVER DO SUCH A DISGUSTING DESPICABLE THING"

I'm sure a lot of people who didn't know of Logan Paul heard about this, went "Oh, what a cunt" and moved on.

Now to contradict everything I've just said, I hate Logan and hope people don't let go of this lol, the dickhead should be ashamed

Even if he was sorry, which, and I apologize for the harsh language, he fucking isn't, that would not make him innocent. Both of the Pauls have done countless terrible things, some even illegal, yet for some reason none of them have paid for any of them at all. They're gone completely unpunished all this time. Don't you think that exploiting a suicide victim's corpse to get money is beyond the line of reason? I know you'll say that he's just a human and that all people make mistakes, but if all people make mistakes, why do criminals go to jail? If they have emotions and probably a reason that they've done it, and they're humans, why are they punished? I understand that Logan Paul didn't do a crime, I'm not saying he should go to prison. However I do believe that he's pretty much on the same moral ground as a criminal, and that he should be socially treated the same way.

 

Imagine it being one of your family members or loved ones that committed suicide and the prick just uses their death as a means to get more views. (Which he already has plenty of anyways)

He's getting hate. What more do you want him to receive? Jail time? He apologized. He's not going to do it three times. It won't make it more sincere if he does it three times.
Logan Paul and Jake Paul are two different people. You're generalizing all of their mistakes (Really, all of Jake's mistakes) under both of their names.

After looking through these comments, I don't think you guys truly understand the ramifications of Logan's video. One main point is how disrespectful he was to the victim and their family, which is 100% true. The fact that he decided to Laugh and make jokes Right next to the dead guy's body is just insane. Not to mention the fact that he put the dead body in the thumbnail, and had tags of the video such as, "Comedy," "Maverick Merch," "Suicide" and "Dead Guy." I don't necessarily blame him for his initial reactions, but he had hours to processed what happened before uploading the video and should have realized how fucked up this was, but he still went ahead and published it.

Also, videos like this can actually cause an increase in suicide for viewers. Similar to controversy surrounding 13 reasons why.

And Finally, to those of you who are saying He Apologized and what not, You do know he is an actor right? I can't say with 100% certainty but his apology seemed fake, and really just a way to calm the storm he created.

 

He's rightfully getting hate. He doesn't need to do anything. Whether his apology is sincere or not, he deserves this criticism. I don't like comparing him to a criminal, because he isn't, but for the sake of moral punishment, you wouldn't say, "Okay, the criminal said he was sorry. He's getting jailed. What more do you want him to receive?" I don't want him to receive anything more or less than hate, I honestly don't.

Logan Paul exploited color blindness for views in the past. He's not getting a pass just because his brother is legally worse.

So? His fans may accept the apology, but that doesn't make him a better person. When I say that an apology isn't enough, I mean that it isn't enough for me, and for the majority of people who aren't his fans. Of course the fans will accept the apology, they didn't even need one. The original video didn't have that many dislikes. Clearly his fans didn't notice the significance of his actions, and there's a reason why.

You see it everywhere: politics, war, religion, social media, relationships, entertainment. When you're so invested in liking something, anything wrong about it will be reduced to nothingness in your mind.

You can't be fucking serious. Yes, technically, he "doesn't matter" anymore. He didn't before; we're all just walking stacks of flesh that give more meaning to themselves than is reasonable. However that meaning is so strong that it's virtually become our reality, so for the sake of the argument, a corpse does matter. It has a lot of emotional value for people who knew the person beforehand. The body itself cannot feel, but people who recognize it can.

You don't know what state this family is in. Since the body is still there, that means it wasn't found yet, otherwise it would've been removed. I never saw the body myself, but according to people who did see it (and Logan Paul himself, who wasn't grossed out by it), the corpse didn't seem that old. Corpses decay very quickly; it'd take less than a week for the body to start bloating. So this suicide could very likely be recent, so recent, in fact, that no one could even notice. Perhaps his family thought he was just missing, and didn't know he died. Maybe they thought he went hiking for a few days and had no way of knowing what happened to him. Either way, even if they knew he was dead, they couldn't have seen the corpse yet, because otherwise it wouldn't be there, so it must still be a shock to see him dead.

Again, for the third time, I'm not saying that what he did wasn't wrong. He's already being punished for it. What do you want more to happen? I'm so confused. I don't endorse suicide jokes, etc and I understand your anger.
He's not receiving anything less or more than hate. So... what then? What's your point?
