Charlottesville

Charlottesville has been under massive nazi protests since last night(?), it's still going on. Counter protesters were hit by a car in a terrorist attack. The man responsible has been aprehended, but one person died and 19 were injured because of the attack. As it stands, the Gov'ner of VA called out the Nazis, but the president did not. Police have also backed away from the protests and deemed the area "Unsafe". Feel free to hmu in PM with any questions or updates.

I'm just scared that the new American generations will forget WW2 and start "respecting them for their own opinion"...

 

I think the hate in this country is out of control. It's okay to disagree but when you decide to bring a car into the equation, that makes you a terrorist. Just my opinion. There's too much hate and intolerance.

It started last night when white supremacists decided to protest the removal of confederate monuments, carrying torches and weapons, which on it's on is retarded as hell. Today, they continued their "rally" at the University of Virginia and all over Charlottesville. AntiFa peoples tried to fight back, which led to some crazy man driving his car into a group of them and doing damage. Thankfully this man is currently in custody and hopefully charges will be pressed soon. As of now, 1 person is confirmed dead and 19 are injured, some injuries fatal.
This was an act of terror. At the black lives matter "riots", the police showed up in riot gear, but they are nowhere to be seen in that gear during this "rally".
Donald Trump made a very vague speech around 3PM EST in New Jersey in light of these events, and he said that this terror needed to stop. But then he said the violence came from "many sides", which is not true in my opinion. If this violent act of a "rally" as is hadn't even happened, then nothing would've came to this point. AntiFa people came to protest in return, but it became violent due to the initial action of this "rally".

I call it a rally because I don't know what else to call it, but I put quotations around it because it's not even one.

 

This is really truly scary to me.
And it really grinds my gears that our president refuses to call them what they are: domestic terrorists and nazis and that's horrifying, and the media too calling them "alt-right" or "white nationalists" seriously call them out for what they are.
There are literally people wearing swastikas and performing nazi salutes and that's so scary I feel so awful for the people who were injured or murdered today due to this and the fact that it was even allowed to get to the point of fatality is disgusting to me and I'm just in complete and total shock that this can happen in this day and age...it's truly sickening
And it really shows white privilege in America and how destructive it can be to our morals and ideals not even just as Americans, but as people.
My heart is heavy.

 

The driver of the car has been charged with second-degree murder, three counts of malicious wounding and failing to stop at the scene of a crash that resulted in a death.
What kind of animal does that.
To strangers.
Who just happen to disagree with him.
As a WOC and even as an American, this scares the crap out of me.

 

As sad as it is, I guess proving premeditation in a court of law might be tricky. He would argue that emotions were running high and it was some kind of "crime of passion".

Everything I have to state has already been said, but from watching the news channels since this morning on this topic, I don't think the President is giving us any hope that the terrorism will end. The riots have been consistent for the past 24 hours, and the Governor of Virginia called a state of emergency pretty early in this matter. From how I'm seeing it, President Trump is refusing to call this predicament out on what it truly is, and that's domestic terrorism.

The entire situation is turning my stomach in knots.
