The Fursuit Head Progress Thread! (Pic-Heavy)

hey guys! dong here with some information on my current project! as you can tell from the title of the thread, my current project is a fursuit head of the following character:

my goal is to get at least his head finished by halloween, as he is going to also be my halloween costume this year.

here's an old picture of what i have so far!

please note that since the picture was taken i've smoothed the cheeks a bit and began to add black lining to the eyes. the head base itself was crafted entirely from airtex high density foam. it's very squishy and very durable. the paper eye in the picture is NOT permanent; paper eyes are usually used to get an idea of how large the eyes should be.


i will update this thread as i go along on my head journey. feel free to ask questions about materials, creation process, anything related to my project or to the character!

That looks pretty good so far! Don't forget you need small foam linings on the side of the maw for jowls and teeths!!

This looks pretty nice so far! The base looks very nice and all I know is that it's a pretty tough job. Just remember don't be afraid to make mistakes and keep up the good progress! Looks awesome!!

 

aaaa thank you! its very tough, especially when you run out of hot glue on the second day of construction.

i may or may not only be able to add teeth to the bottom jaw, so thank you for the tip! ill be sure to pm you for some tips when i need them.

EDIT 8:40 PM- ok im not allowed to double post so i have to do this. does anyone know a good material for teeth? i have some airdry clay and thats pretty much it

YAHOO! a lot of things have happened since the first post. ive been smoothing some things down. not only that, but he now has full eye lining and paper eyes to act as patterns for when i get the eye material (since i cannot find buckram near me, i'll be using vinyl aida cloth). he also has his signature horns and fangs!

EDIT 7/23 sometime around 4:30 lol- guys im so happy you have no idea

the eyes are made from some creatology craft foam and some pet screen. the fabric store near me didnt have aida cloth that fit my requirements, so i picked up some pet screen and layered it so the grids overlapped. look at him. please.

 

I have to say this looks amazing! I really can't wait to see the furring and more progress photos!
