I can't really remember, but I think the story about the starfish is that when she went to the beach she didn't play with the other kids because she was shy so she played with the starfish.I think that's the reason.

Btw, my favorite part in Clannad so far:
Sunohara to Tomoyo: LEND ME YOUR BREASTS

Without the Sunohara and Tomoyo parts the anime would be boring xD Just wait until you watch the After Story, my favorite SunoharaxTomoyo part is in one of the After Story episodes xD

Idk why Tomoyo constantly beats the shit out of Sunohara. And my favorite parts with Fuko in a trance are:
The one where Tomoya squeezes milk up her nose
Where she starts poking Sunohara
When Tomoyo asked Kyou's little sister to pose as him and tell Fuko that he had turned into a girl

"This is very shocking!" xD

Most of the bits where Fuko goes into a trance are my favorite moments, hence why Fuko is one of my favorite characters.
