My friend is on the stage to committing suicide to I am trying to help as best as I can but I don't think its working.

Exactly why commit suicide (permanent) over depression (temporary) when it won't matter in 10-20 fucking years?

 

I'm sorry but this is beyond the word rude do you not understand what some people go through? Hotlines are for people that are alone possibly or just want to talk to some beside their own family or even friends. I've called a hotline before and hey it might have saved my life. Depression will "fucking matter" in 10-20 years and if you really think it won't you are wrong. It "fucking" matters. Its a long-term effect on your life. It may go away, but it is always there. Some people feel they dont belong here, or they don't want to be here for many reasons. Suicide is a serious thing, seeing this comment made me furious. It is again rude and inconsiderate to even think about saying somthin like this. Let's say hypotheticaly you were depressed/suicidal and I said to you, your depression won't matter in a few years and that suicide is dumb? How would you feel? Hell I'd know I'd feel like crap and it would give me 2 times more a reason to go jump of a bridge. So before you even think about posting something else think twice before you do. Suicide is a serious damn topic. Either stick with it or leave the thread.

If you don't know what fucking depression is get off this topic. Most depression cases are fucking temporary. If you are gonna commit suicide on a TEMPORARY thing, just why? Suicide is PERMENANT. I've been through depression fucking twice and I know what it is and what it's like to feel. But eventually you fucking get over it within a while about your depression. You fucking think in 20 years you will still be depressed for the whole 20 years?? fucking stupid? don't act like a fucking smartass. Let's say your depressed because of your boyfriend broke up with you, will you still be depressed for 20 years??? In 29 years it won't even matter. Bullying let's take this further, people get bullied and become depressed. They move schools etc and make new friends, boom! You won't be depressed again. Don't be so stupid. You need to think three times before you post that again. Depression has level of stages, you could have a terrible stage of depression that could last 10 years. Or a simple one like your boyfriend broke up with you. This is where I'm taking it too.

Edit: The reason that I locked this is that this isn't helping out the community, you could say it could make people depressed/sad. I read this thread and it seriously just makes me sad reading it.

I honestly don't see a problem with this thread. Also, it seemed kind of unfair to just lock the thread because you didn't necessarily like it. I think if you don't feel comfortable with the thread, it would be best to just not comment. You can still express your opinions, but I thought that when you locked this thread, it was kind of biased and unfair just to be honest. Also, Scout was just trying to make a thread to inform others about what he experienced, so I don't know why you think this thread is bad. I personally thought that the thread was mostly positive.

 

We can't just ignore things because they don't give us good vibes. Now, I love feeling good as much as the next sentient being, but choosing to ignore a problem is worse than making fun of it, in my opinion. I actually like this thread because it does raise awareness for a serious problems within the minority youths of the world.

Look at Robin fucking Williams, who's depression CLEARLY disappeared. Or how about Robert Enke, a 32 year old German goalkeeper who stood on the train tracks the day his deppresion should have "disappeared". Oh, and bullying. God, bullying stays with you forever these days. Ever heard of cyber bullying. Fuck yeah, that shit can't just be "erased" forever. Oh no, but I'll just erase all of my social media. No no, silly child. They'll find you. And harass you until one of you is dead.

Anyways, if you want to commit suicide or have bad deppresion, talk to someone. It will help, trust me.

 

Depression as a diagnosis, is different. There ARE permanent versions of depression. I have friends diagnosed with things like this. Depression isn't gonna stop for them, but if they talk to actual people that can help, it WILL help.

I never talk about this to people, but my sister committed suicide over 3 years ago. This set me into a stage of depression. Guess what? It went away. But for some people, it doesn't end. You can't criticize people for being medically diagnosed with something that sets them into a mental state of depression. All you can do is support them, and help them when they need it. Telling them off won't help people, it just makes it worse.

Yes, yes, Daniel. I'd also like to point out that this is also one of those cases where no one expected the person to suicide.
"Go talk to a friend about your problem" is a life saver... not all the time.
In the context we're talking about now, the advice above can only be done by the person in need of help. I know someone committing suicide because of depression is sad. What is worse than that is someone the seemed so happy and chipper was actually depressed that all of that was a shock. It's different when you know someone is going through something. "I wish I could have saved him/her" is different from "I wish I knew".
In Daniel's case, it's heartwrenching to watch Markiplier's video prior to the hiatus. Mark's talking about Cyndago just moments before Daniel's death, and you know nobody saw it coming. I don't even know Cyndago much but it matters to Mark a lot.
Another advice to give other than the sad one to talk goes to the close people in that one's life. Be more watchful. It's hard to detect sadness behind a mask of happiness.
