There are a plethora of music artists that are not highly rated due to prominent artists like Drake, Travis, Ariana, etc. Although people say SoundCloud and Spotify are platforms for under rated artists to come forward, I think they should dedicate a singular platform for individuals who struggle in making their name in the Music Industry. Most songs in order to get famous, have features by prominent artists which make those under rated artists come to light. I honestly think there should be a platform for artists who are not getting enough recognition. The reason I am typing this thread is because one of my ALL TIME favourite songs is called Astronaut in the Ocean by Masked Wolf. The guy only has 5.2k subscribers on YouTube, but his music is far superior than what is being produced now by bigger artists. This guy would never come up on your Recommended or you would never see on YouTube's algorithm, but I only learnt of this song because one of my really good friends happened to find it when she was editing. Down below, do you think under rated artists are really RECOGNIZED with the current music format, and if so, which artist do you guys like that isn't very known? Best Regards, kxwe
Shyheim, Mack 10, Hood Surgeon, Hopsin, Jamaar and Lil King G are my not well known favorite music artists that I think deserves more recognition and respect.
at what point does an underground artist become mainstream? when should they be allowed on this platform, and not? who should we promote? all arbitrary questions that have no good answer. underground artists will always struggle to make a living out of their work while popular artists will get fucked by record labels to create as much money as humanely possible. it's up to us to find music that we like, and promote it to people we know in the hopes of making them more known. bandcamp is an exceptional platform for discovering, promoting and encouraging underground artists. more and more people are getting interested in it too, so while the artists can not make a living out of bandcamp promotion yet, I feel like we are slowly getting to the point where more and more underground artists are getting recognized thanks in part to this platform.
there's a really good artist called kendrick lamar, idk if you've ever heard of him he's really underground
I added this to my playlist when i first saw this thread because that song was amazing i had aux on an election day gathering (not sure if would consider party) and this song came on shuffle, everyone in the damn room added it
Theo Katzman's music is phenomenal. Personally, I like his songs Best, Death of Us, and What Do You Mean (When You Said Love)
