Yea but the point still stands. If you buy something you dont expect it to last forever. Thats like going into a shop and demanding a refund when your 26 year old computer breaks. It just doesnt make sense at all

So, correct me if I'm wrong, our island will not be deleted. Just our balance and spawn point?

Everything will be deleted, he was talking about when you download the world.
When you do the world download, everything within the world is saved, but bal and whatnot are not.
His comment was answering someones question about the world download.

Oh, alright. Do you know if there is a thread or instruction anywhere on how to download your world? Sorry to bother.

You just find the download and them drag it into your saves folder. If you ever downloaded a map on like a website its the same.

I am definitely excited for this update. It it’s as good as the factions one, it’ll be great.

That being said, I will definitely miss my 2014 island. It wasn’t much, but god damn.

Ok, after some thoughts about this sudden news, you should make spawners purchasable for in game money this time... at least that would bring back people knowing that they won't have to spend $xxxxx for more spawners. The reset was quite sudden but as usual, brings in quite a numerous amount of pros and cons. At this point after some thoughts, i didn't know whether or not i was for or against reset anymore but it will reset regardless.

    Some Pros:
    • As most would know with the news of spawners being duped, this is now an opportunity to finally make things fair again.
    • Skyblock 1 economy was quite high and broken so again, now's the chance to restore it back to normal. Although i must say, won't be too long before the spawners drop in and breaks the eco again.
    • Players attract players. With most new people joining skyblock 1, the other skyblocks are basically dead and who would play on a server where you log in and its just you... no one else but you...
    • Able to hopefully have new features like shop items.
    • May be able to bring back some old players who quit for reasons like unfairness or have been scammed e.g
    • Brings the skyblock community into one server which means less lonely people.
    • Hopefully no cooldown on island making so farming island becomes possible again (doubt it)
    Some Cons:
    • Loss of players who have put in a great deal of money for spawners.
    • Loss of hard work for many people.
    • Lag free? may not exactly be lag free but we shall see.
    • No one would be able to really help out each other anymore as all skyblockers would be busy grinding and expanding their island.
    • May have a different way of earning money, in other words afking may no longer be the best option. (spawner and cactus farm may not give as much money anymore to stop the eco from breaking)
    • Lots of veterans will miss the good old memories
    • Everyone gonna be peasants again working and mining with cobble stones xD
Well whatever it has been decided that its going to reset and like any other reset, some look forward to it and some just felt like an arrow pierced straight through their ribs. No matter the cause, I hope it is for the better but after reset I do not think the player base will change all that much with players coming back and leaving. Although i do hope that players will have a much more enjoyable time rather than always being lonely and having to always purchase items through mr spawn shop. Best of luck to those who are still playing/ will play, i may or may not see you around (not that it matters anymore).

OI JERRY AND HARRY HERES A QUESTION: Will skyblock reset again after this in the foreseeable future or will it be another sudden announcement? Who would of ever thought skyblock was gonna reset but the day has come I suppose.

Ok so its not like factions and kitpvp where there are actual resets after a set period of time. Glad to hear that i guess although who knows what could happen in the future =P.

Firstly, I just want to say that I'm very excited for this reset. I've always wanted to start going absolute ham on SkyBlock but I've never gotten the chance. Super happy for this.

    Anyhow, drama time.
I both agree and disagree with the reset.
Mostly disagree, but that's because I'm speaking from the perspective of others.
    Let me explain:

    Why I defend the reset:
Well, first of all, your island won't be deleted. You could just play in Survival, though there are a lot of restrictions.

Second, it's an opportunity for players to start over. Look me dead in the fucking face and tell me that having all the OP items, all the in-game money in the world, and 50 automated farms didn't get boring. It's fun to grind to get those things. I know I'll certainly be trying my hand at that. It's more of an excuse to play. What do you do when you're one of the richest folks on the server? Wait around for more money to come in? Sell shit? Not much to do at that point. With a reset, there's actual value in playing. I fought against the Creative reset because Creative is just building. Not only that, restricted building. I personally find the idea of Creative a bit dumb other if you're just fucking off with friends, but with SkyBlock, there's an actual purpose to playing.

Why I don't defend the reset:
This is the main point so I'll get it out of the way: the people that argue that JnH do tell the buyer that the items are temporary, though they are correct, don't know how the average player works. Most people that buy in-game items for Minecraft -- actually, fuck it, play Minecraft in general -- are likely under the age of 15. There are many exceptions, but I think the larger majority is under 15 or at most under 17. And tell me one of these players that actually looks at the terms and conditions when checking out. I didn't when I bought my Legend rank, I was not advised to by my parents (I was, like, 9 at the time so I wasn't buying it myself lol), nobody recommended it. Think of it this way: you just bought a new computer, or you just bought a new program on said computer, etc. and it comes up with a 'terms and conditions' slide. LOOK ME DEAD IN THE FACE AND TELL ME YOU READ EVERY SINGLE WORD ON THAT SHEET. OR TELL ME ONE PERSON THAT DOES. NOBODY DOES THAT. IT SHOULD BE CLEARLY SPECIFIED FROM THE MOMENT THAT YOU PURCHASE WHATEVER YOU'RE BUYING.
    Example:
(using Kit Minerals as an example)
This is not a permanent purchase. This item will not carry over if this server had a reset.
Gives you access to the 'minerals' kit, which contains:

    • 1x Diamond Block
    • 1x Emerald Block
    • 2x Iron Block
    • 2x Gold Block
    • 4x Coal Block
    • 8x Redstone Block
    • 16x Lapis Block
    • 16x Quartz Block
Acquire the kit using the command: /kit minerals, it can be used once every 24 hours.
^^ Something like that. That'd pretty much eliminate this entire point. Not everybody reads the terms and conditions, especially when you so badly place it at the end of the checkout site, but they do read the beginning part that tells you what you're getting. Even 9 year old me did that. Everyone reads this part.

Second, there's the point of JnH are stealing money yadda yadda yadda. You've seen it many times so I'm just gonna quote this lad here:
I mainly agree with this because SkyBlock, in my (and in mosts) opinion, was fine the way it was. There's not much to be improved. Maybe make spawners buyable with in-game currency? I don't know. Excited to see how you'll pull it off, but I honestly don't see a point in it. It is pretty much a last ditch effort for money, because people start from rock bottom and then they'll buy spawners and what not.

TL;DR: I'm mixed on the whole situation. It does get boring at some point but it's still a little dumb for a few reasons. I'm mainly speaking from the perspective of others, so keep that in mind. I've barely played SkyBlock.

    thanks for the read, xoxo

Good post, nicely worded, but I have some counter arguments.

"They should write it clearly that items aren't carried over: example text for minerals kit"

It seems quite obvious to me that items/money would not be carried over in the event of a reset: they're not permanent purchases to begin with. Let's say you buy $1,000,000 in-game money, you can spend all that money until you have $0: It wouldn't make sense to give it back, since you already used it. Same with buying items, you used those items, why would they need to be given back. Your example used kits, which just so happens to be something that is carried over.

"SkyBlock was fine the way it is"

Except it's a 5-year-old world, and we're running 5 separate servers for 1 minigame, 4 of which have less than 2 players online at all times. 4 of those should've been legacy'd a long time ago

Remember that I'm speaking from perspective of a player without this information. I knew this beforehand, but, though I may not have expressed it correctly, this is more of an advice piece. My point is invalid here, you have proven that greatly, however I feel like somebody that wouldn't know this (i.e. the folks babbling on about being scammed) would be helped with this. It's not clearly specified, therefore they get the idolized view that these purchases are like ranks, they are permanent unless removed. I would feel like it's obvious to you because you are literally the Owner and you set the rules for these purchases. However, folks like our friends here (apologies for name-calling but idk how to censor names haha):
clearly don't know this very well.

But yeah, I do see your point, and I was unaware that kits were carried over so that's why I used them as example lol

Yeah, okay, this was a good point. I mostly meant plugin-wise but I could see a bit more purpose in the reset bc of this

legit more than half your cons are just about it resetting and how everyone has to actually “work” again to get going

Wouldn't there be a way to have an option to carry your island over for like a month? That way the people that care about their islands and still play them can still access them, and the people that don't play/ care anymore have their islands deleted/downloadable.

Kinda ruins part of the point of having a reset - a fresh start and the possibility of fixing the frankly broken economy. If you can transfer your island over, people would have millions within days, basically putting us in the same position as now.

I see no problem with having to work back up the ranks; if anything, being forced to create all new farms and experience that upbringing is more attractive to me imo. That's what makes FarmKing so popular in the early stages
