infinity is a value, not a number. so for those saying infinity squared (infinity times infinity), you're basically just saying infinity, since infinity isn't a number you can simply multiply. when you're saying infinity, you're saying every number to exist. that's why it's a value, not a number.

which is why the biggest number is -1/12.

-1/12 is the sum of all real numbers. we can prove this using these equations:
x = 1-1+1-1+1-1...
y = 1-2+3-4+5-6+7
z = 1+2+3+4+5+6+7

first, we solve x. x has two possible answers, 0 and 1, depending on where you want to stop at. so, we take the average of the two numbers and we get 1/2.

then we solve for y. we'd need to multiply by two first:
1-2+3-4+5-6+7...
+1-2+3-4+5-6...
1-1+1-1+1-1...

2y=x=1/2
y=1/4

then we solve for z. we can do this by subtracting y from z:
1+2+3+4+5+6...
-1+2-3+4-5+6...
4+8+12...
4(1+2+3+4...)

z-1/4=4z
-1/4=3z
-1/12=z

i'm in both 11th grade dual credit pre calculus and ap chemistry, math classes don't mean shit to me

the result is completely derived from the sum of ALL real numbers, not stopping.

 

i thought calculus was a math class, must be a subject imported from Classical Education

can you explain to me, in your own words, what cha tryna say

 

when you add every real number up to infinity (so every REAL number you can feasibly think of, from anywhere from 1 to 237 to 1.67*10^93, getting higher and higher), the sum of all real numbers, you get -1/12.

HOWEVER, infinity is not an exactly "feasible" value, since we can't exactly count all the way up to infinity. that's why we can assume that -1/12 contains the sum of every single real number.
