Make OITC Great Again

    I have been wanting to make suggestions for OITC since it's become a dead server. However, I want to know what others want. Please just reply to the thread with anything.

    I personally think adding a /duel feature would be pretty lit. Also maybe if the spawn got a revamp it'll bring back some players? And if there would be a /duel feature, it would have extended time so the game time doesn't run out.

    I don't know that it can be revived at this point,,, the community simply no longer has interest.

    We could get people back,, that's why it reset. People rejoined. And then they left again. Personally, I played a ton before the reset. Once I hit 1000 wins, it was like a snap of the fingers and it was done. Bam. Lost interest. I reached my goal and I didn't want to play, as is the same for many others. We can create a temporary replacement which will help for a short time, but at this point I think it should be focused upon improving games that are successful and played, rather than washed up games such as oitc. Though it's my favorite game on the server, it's no longer popular.

    Actually, I want this game back better before. I am actually pretty good at it and I want it better.
    I suggest adding Kits.

    This is oitc, not kitpvp why would they add kits/duels?
    I agree that people should be able to 1v1 without being followed, so maybe /1v1 or something.
    I don't agree with kits.. Doesn't make sense to me to add kits to oitc plus we don't want it to be pay2win.

    I think new maps (like the cod maps that have been submitted), and a total new spawn, like a different theme.
    And I don't know what, but something to work for besides getting on the leaderboards. Like achievements.

    • Duels with multiple rounds in each match and small rooms designed specifically for 1v1s.
    • In game currency & cosmetics shop (keeps people playing)
    • "Super OITC" - special rooms that add boosters in games and stuff like that. Maybe even kits.
    • Keep an "original OITC" gamemode, but add more gamemodes. For example, each player has 5 lives in each game, and after that, they're out.
    Just throwing out some ideas that can spice up the game :)

    @TheMint I have been thinking about the actual gamemode of 5 lives. I love that idea.

    What if 1v1's (duels) were up to 10 kills instead of 20 to save time? or if not 10, how many?

    I saw a suggestion back then which owners or whoever wants could host an event with prices and stuff. That would make things a bit more interesting
    Coin system or any other type of system that will actually make yourself work your ass to get a pretty good kit

    I've seen that games who require a lot of effort from the players are the most interesting ones. For example I've been playing League of the past 4 years now and I spent hours and hours in order to buy champions, runes and other stuff which made my game way more interesting

    I guess if everyone started with a basic kit and then worked his way up to a better kit would make players want to play the game more. Community hasn't really lost interest in the game, they just don't play it anymore because they have no one to play it with
    I think deep down old OITC players would absolutely love to revive it. I mean I am one of them, I played a fuck ton of OITC and I still like it

    Also another idea is completing achievements which can help you get more XP or upgrade your current kit

    and I would love to see more gamemodes but indeed keep the old one

    I enjoy OITC for its simplicity, it's why I don't play KitPvP and find it annoying when people in-game trash talk you for bow spamming -.- . Adding kits would to OITC would perhaps bring some people back but likely only temporarily until they get bored again while active players may leave for good. If you want a KitOITC then why not just add an OITC style gamemode to KitPvP?

    10 kills is too short for me, makes it too easy to get a kill streak and just win in 30 seconds. Similarly I don't like The Hive's 5 lives mechanism as it's too easy to be spawnkilled a few times and go out and the game tends to become a k/d battle rather than just high kills (not necessarily worse). Although I don't like them that's just an opinion and they could probably work as an alternative gamemode for people who prefer them.

    To be honest I don't think OITC is that dead, although a lot of players have left there's a lot still playing/joining. In comparison to spleef/sumo/build-it OITC is much more active.

    Why would you add an OITC styled gamemode to KitPvP if there's already an OITC game in the network? The right thing to do would be to add gamemodes to OITC, where one of them would be the classic OITC (the one you prefer) and others would be, for example, Kit OITC or Domination OITC.

    There isn't a playerbase anymore because everyone who used to play it left for other games. We could have a wave 3 surge of players on the server with Minecraft Vs. Real Life becoming so popular and bringing people into playing OITC, but that would require some form of interest. People played OITC because it was minecraft cod, but now cod is irrelevant. I'd say make a ripoff of league of legends now since a lot of 10 year olds are playing it, sort of like cod in 2013.
    There are too many visually engaging video games out there right now and Minecraft can't compete. Big minecraft youtubers play other games now, one being the YOGSCAST. Nobody is playing servers anymore, and .io games are apparently more fun than block games. Minecraft isn't as entertaining to watch (and there's not much to watch anymore), so why would the kids find it entertaining to play?
    I'd say wait to see if wave 3 brings in new players. We'll have some turkish 9 year olds to play the bow game with us.

    As a proud OITC player I agree with brand new suggestions. It's my favorite mini game, but I stopped playing a couple of months ago, since it's getting boring with the lack of players joining, which sadly, still decreases even more every month.

    I'd appreciate an entire revamp. Starting with a fresh new spawn, more awesome maps & possibly another game mode, in hope that it attracts players again. Because let's be real, the game has decreased in popularity over time and is pretty much dead since a long time actually. I miss the feeling of playing in a crowded OITC server, with hell of a lot competition. I get that the old community is gone by now, but this is a new generation, a new community can arise. Hopefully OITC can last a bit longer then.

    • I would love to see maps designed for 1v1 matches, since it's always a struggle to find people on the bigger maps, as well as time runs out faster. With that we can make use of the command /duel as @Draggon suggested and reduce the kills to 10 to win a match, just for the 1v1's only
    • Another game mode while retaining the regular OITC sounds interesting. Just like in the original One In The Chamber on Call of Duty each player has to fight it out with 3 or 5 lives and once you hit numburo uno, you're out of the match. You can join up to 6-8 players, unlike 12 players as it otherwise would turn to become a bloody killstealfest.
    • At last, give the regular OITC game mode another clean wipe on all stats & leader boards, so people can start from scratch again.
    Like @TheMint said, this could definitely spice up the game by a lot. =)

    There's a good chance that the right combination of classic + other gamemodes would bring back players so as long as classic OITC remained the main gamemode then I have no reason to complain.
    As a separate game that could probably work, perhaps together with the kits idea. On its own it would just make the game pay/play to win which is unfair on anyone who doesn't play regularly and imo pretty boring (sry).

    It wasn't all that long ago since stats reset so I'm pretty sure doing it again would cause any remaining old players to leave, although as the aim is to keep it popular with new players that's not a massive issue.

    Still don't think OITC is that dead either, although its definitely not active 24/7

    Before we add anything new, I think we need to get rid of all the things that make OITC players lose interest.

    Killstealing

    Probably not going to end, but players are really annoyed when they legitimately lower a player's health only to have it stolen and killed themselves.

    Suicides

    Again, it does become annoying when you've knocked someone down to a considerably low health and they fall off the edge so you wouldn't get the kill. A possible workaround to this is to grant the kill to whoever had the last hit on the player when they fall off.

    Game Leaving

    Statistics are manipulated when a player leaves a game. I personally have seen a lot of players leaving games when another makes it to 19 kills. I'd say we can change this by discarding all of your kills and deaths you accumulated in a game if you leave mid-game.

    can you pls put the original leaderboard somewhere in the lobby. idc where just I need to see it some time thanksss. I got a pic of it if you want and its takes like less than 3o minutes to make it

    The old leaderboard can be found behind the current leaderboard. This was the score that players had before the OITC reset on June 10th, 2016.

    If you mean the old leaderboard from 2013, I'm not sure if it will be added.

    Ok. Here are some of my comments.

    - The ELO system needs to go. It definitely killed the game for me.

    - New maps are fine, but the maps that were added in the ELO update are way to big and, in my opinion, poorly designed for OITC.

    - The 1v1 room, or some function to 1v1 is a cool idea.

    - New spawn

    - From reading the suggestions, I think that 1v1 duels shouldn't be 10...that's too short. I think 15 is a good number. But then take away the time limit, so it always ends at 15.

    - No kits. I like the simple weapon system, and if there was to be some kind of currency, it would only be for cosmetics. No weapon upgrades or anything.

    - Like stated before, unique game modes would be pretty fun, but to keep the original OITC still alive, maybe only have the levels and leaderboard system for the original game mode. Or separate leaderboards... One for the original OITC and the other for the other game modes.

    I don't think that anything should be done about killstealing. I see OITC as a bloodbath for 20 kills. Get the kills by any means possible. Anyways, you cannot steal a kill that the person never got. It's more like kill interfering. And honestly, I don't think much can be done about it.

    I really like the suggestions for suicides and leaving the game. Those changes would really help the game a lot I think.

    Add a coins system with upgradable cosmetics that would maybe be the only way for me to gain interest again, upgrading things with coins is a great way to keep interest cause you have something to play for, so does certain ranks, take a look at the Hive they did a very solid job on this and I must say that OITC on the hive on this point is way more entertaining.

    Possible upgrades with a coin system
    - arrow trails such as fire, hearts, smoke ect ect
    -armour/sword upgrades (make it cosmetic though) this would mean that all armour and all weapons in the game would have the same stats (this is easy to code) (this could also include axes,pickaxes, shovels or any other item
    -cosmetics for on top of you're head (could be any block)
    -transparent pet (you can take you're pet into the game for a high amound of coins and make this pet transparant so they don't block arrows ect)
    -cosmetic namecolor ingame for a high amound of coins


    Some other idea's
    -as people said a 1v1 mode
    -enchanted flame bow for leaderboard players (not a gamechanger cause arrows are instakill anyway)
    -ingame ranks based on either kills or wins (I would say wins cause that takes up more skill)
    -possible vote selection for the maps (ingame)
    -hosted tournaments (hosted by a staffmember) winners could get a certain cosmetic no one else get (could be while shifted you fart firework ingame, could be toggled off and there would be a cooldown of 10 seconds on it)

    A coins system would be a great add on, as well as this trying out the duel command would be really fun but I think its should be 20.
