We've known about this since the day of launch, a small price to pay for the custom generated terrain.
Any chance we could get Guardians added to the /spawner command to help compensate for this? Guardian farms are generally a pretty big deal on survival
We don't want to add it to /spawner. We don't know how to fix the guardian spawning in a map which is already generated, and it shouldn't be much of a problem, there must be like 6 ocean monuments on survival afterall. If we find a way to fix it I guess we'll do it, but for now, we see no way to do so.
Yeah ocean monuments are immeasurably more common on this world. The only reason they were so sparse on the old world was because the vast majority of the chunks were loaded in 1.7, after the server finally updated to 1.8 the few unloaded Deep Ocean chunks were able to spawn them properly. This world was 1.8 from the beginning so monuments spawn at normal rates
Also multiple people suggested a possible solution to the guardian spawning issue may be to simply change the biome type from Ocean to Deep Ocean. Has anyone had the time to test this yet? EDIT: It may be easier to just run an algorithm that converts all "ocean" type biomes into "deep ocean", sorta like how you can change the biome of a plot in creative mode. According to the Biome article on the minecraft wiki, the only differences between the two biomes is minor changes to terrain generation (which doesn't matter in a completely pre-generated world) and the ability of guardians to spawn at temples.
