[Build Battle] Spawn

    Description of the map: This is a map based off of an @Appul design. We used height maps and other voxel sniper tools to complete this map. We used armor stands to show that the aspect of building (Build Battle) is still there. We hope you give us feedback on what you think we should add/remove/change.

    Extra: Ignore any external items (such as trees, blocks, etc.) that are outside of the map.

    - Bugs: Grass has not set into dirt on the back side. This will change with time, so this bug will easily go away.

    My team didn't work on this, it was just me and a guy (@Spxm) on the team. It's a separate project from the team, lol.

    Nice build! I have a few things to suggest, though.

    Minor

    -Make the waterfall more realistic. I think you can preform this most efficiently by increasing the concentration of blue stained glass.


    -Remove the white glass from the pool at the end of the waterfall. White is realistic with waterfalls because they contain moving water. Stagnant water is not white because it is not moving.

    -Change the umbrella! It might not seem major but this is what players see when they enter. It is too flat, so try adding a quartz slab on top of the fence post.

    -Change up the play sign. Try something new (or at least add a background for it).

    -I personally don't like how on the front of some wooden logs there are wooden buttons and others stone. I don't get it. Also, since you put buttons on the logs facing outwards, consider putting something on the logs facing upwards.

    -You used cobblestone wall supports on the wooden mine entrances but fence supports on the wooden boards. I suggest switching to fences.

    Major

    Trees

    -I dislike the oak trees at the top of the mountains. One reason is because of the dirt that it stands upon. When following a flow of grass, I see a disruption of dirt because a tree is on top. Try to conceal them more. Example of this occurring:

    -Also, the trees simply do not look good in my opinion
    . Not saying that you should make custom trees, but you could fair better on the placement. There are multiple areas where the trees don't look nicely placed. For example:

    -Finally, there is space between the leaves in the trees and the mountains that I think you could patch up. Examples of when it was done well and not as well:

    Theme
    -I think there are multiple themes, but I am not exactly sure what they are. Grass, endstone, and stone? Maybe try to remove the presence of the stone theme unless you want to show it more (in which case you should combine it with the grass theme on the mountains).

    -Integration of the themes could be smoother. Examples:
    I should not be able to draw lines to divide the themes. Red=Separation, Green=Disrupted Separation[​IMG]

    -Add something in with the dirt! Whenever you used the grass theme instead of the endstone theme for the mountainside, you ended up with:

    The timing of this spawn build is optimal so you should have a high chance of this getting accepted. All of these suggestions are just my opinions, so do not take them seriously. Good luck with this submission!

    Dirt will be replaced with Coarse Dirt.

    Trees are undergoing the process of being made custom trees.

    Will be changed.

    Will be done.

    All other suggestions you made are not really going to be added due to the fact that I don't want to over-do decoration (kind 0f).

    Looks good! I must say, this was released extremely quickly after Build Battla went live, so I have to wonder how you finished it this quick.

    Nonetheless, a solid map. I like the integration of customized armor stands to depict motion and bring the build to life. Having fixed most of Darkstorm's suggestions, I can't find anything else wrong with the map.

    (I still don't like endstone as a block though. Never really have. Tried to use it a couple times, but I just couldn't make it work)

    Not trying to be rude at all, but I want to share my opinion.
    First,
    This build makes no sense.
    So, you are saying, that in is small spawn, the terrain/biome goes from sand to grass, back to sand? It really doesn't make much sense.
    Second,
    Way to small
    The server is Jerry and Harry, which gets roughly 700-1000 players. The spawn you provided to the newest mini-game is honestly smaller than sumo. That's not very good, considering Build battle is one of, if not, the top of the list for most popular mini-game. A small spawn like this for that many players? Doesn't seem right to me.
    Third,
    Lot's of bone meal
    Bone meal isn't always a bad thing, but with trees, especially in a spawn, its not to great. Make them look somewhat custom.
    Fourth,
    Why are the trees even there?
    Like I described the biomes earlier, I see no need to have trees. It honestly looks like you went mine blank after you placed the signs and decided to fill the remaining areas up with trees. Sure, border trees are good, but, which I see you did, but there is a way to many of them. Why would that many trees be on-top of a sand hill?
    Fifth,
    Nothing to do
    Other than to walk a few blocks forward to select a game, there is nothing to explore. There is no terrain, or, fun things to do other than walk straight forward to the games. If you made the spawn bigger, this wouldn't be a big issue.
    Sixth and final,
    Weird pallet
    Yes, endstone looks good with sand, but not really in small builds like this. The pallet you are using is for more mega-styled terrain. I recommend using a more basic pallet for this map. Also, don't use glass as water. For this kind of builds, it just looks weird to have it. Glass water may look better to the builder, but to the average player, it makes no sense. Walking on water is impossible in reality, and being able to do it in-game is not too weird, but it is not something you should have in this spawn.

    To wrap it up,
    I think you need to work on this spawn more
    Don't take this as criticism, because its to help you and your team improve. I strongly suggest working on this build a lot more. Take what I said into consideration, please.
