I have gone under many usernames and accounts since 2015, some of you may know me as Lastboy11, Katbugge, AsherGreene, and so much more. But I've seen such a dramatic drop in players so please tell me, what happened? A lot has changed since 2015, like this cringy haircut in this profile picture, I was 11, please don't judge. xD

People grew up, the old community of minecraft matured and left. Now there's a fresh new community, and with all the other advanced minigames servers have now it's just been hard to keep up with them and get more players in.

People grow older and leave because of college, work, parents, grades, school - the list of reasons goes on and on.

People change and they choose to go down different paths. The server won't always have the same amount of players. Many acquire different opinions as time passes.

Like in my case, I was staff for 7 months. Throughout that time being 15-17 years old I got a full time job working at a Ford Dealership, will be a Senior in High School taking college courses also inlisting in the Military. My age group grew up with minecraft for years and that happened to be where everyone else was too. We grew up, but it will be great again one day. Dont worry

It's the same thing that happens in many games or other servers. People cycle. You grow up or get bored and move on. New players come. I've watched this happen for decades, it's just one of those things.

Completely agreed ^. I also want to mention that, back then (pardon my language) it was extremely hard to find a guy who thought he was "the shit", so yes, people change, and grow different opinions about the server.

Well, I don't know about 2015, but for me the server was at it's greatest between 2012-2013 before it was "Revamped"

The server used to be a survival server, with the spawn and the portals to various minigames located in the survival world. I think the minigames actually awarded small prizes in survival too. The staff also interacted on a more personal level with the players and more often. All of this contributed to a much stronger sense of community.

After the server was revamped, the survival world was turned into just one of the minigames, and the server felt more like a generic minigame server. This was also when they introduced some OP perks such as /fly. Because of these changes, the player base was heavily split up, and the sense of community was drastically reduced .

Much later, with the introduction of hard core factions, the already dwindling survival player base was split again.

To me, what made the J&H server so unique, was how strong the sense of community was. And without that, it's just a generic minigame server.

I don't know what prompted the decision to revamp the server like that. Maybe the old server wasn't financially sustainable. But I miss it.

Wow people talk about it like minecraft is life, "moving on" "growing up". Its simple, barely anyone will play the same game for their whole life, minecraft had its glory and other games are just more entertaining.

Perhaps I went back too far, but I believe my other point about the server having a stronger sense community due to being more survival focused still stands. This is just from my perspective as a player and how I feel about it, so I understand if this didn't work as well from the administrative side.

@Magical You pretty much hit the nail on the head. The average age is 12-16 and these kids are the most toxic on the entire server. It's gotten to a point where on a couple servers (usually Farmking and KitPVP) I can say "dude, seriously.." and they stop. To be honest, it's mostly kids showing off for other kids trying to look big and bad. I can go into the psychology behind it but... #effort. :P

Yes, this is true (even though I'm in the age group you mentioned), but it just isn't for the server. A majority of the players age means have been going down. It's hard to get older members when there are few to begin with. I also think looking at the past is good, but not for too long. Yes, there might've been a golden age of the server: it happens. If all the old members keep looking back and staying back while new members come, they're not going to be shaped by the older members at all. They'll just be their whiny, I-am-better-then-all-of-you personalities. If people want that to change, they can either change the people who play the server or try to positively impact the people on the server.

I'm sorry for my rant. Carry on. :/

I feel like once the "Drama threads" started is when a spiraling downfall happened.
