This is my progress on the J&H Server's Build It! Lobby, I am not submitting it just yet, just showing off the 50% that is done to get any feedback to make it better before it is submitted! Here are the screenshots!
I like it, but I am going to be frank with you, I don't think it's that needed. If a new one were built, I would prefer it in a void world such as the Lobby or Parkour Lobby.
I believe a Build-It Lobby could be a favorable idea taking into consideration that since the minigame is no longer as popular, it could attract more players. My main opinions: Size | The height of the portal is good, but that means you will need a LOT more map space. If you are wondering an amount, go into the Minefighter lobby and look at the portal's size relative to the lobby. Also notice that even though the lobby is large, the joining signs are near the portal so players do not get lost. Theme | There is a large cobblestone portal, and then a small wooden 'joining' area. They both look alright alone, but they do not mash together. Out of all, the portal looks the most out of place because it does not fit with the floor, either. You might want to do more than a mix of blocks into the floor to separate the two areas. Also, make sure the floor has dimensions (more than some land leading up to structures). The "Build It" sign | It strongly resembles the OITC sign design, for one. Most importantly, though, is that it is much too plain. Make it stand out! So far the main design feature has been the portal, and that is what players will have their backs to. Like clockwork, everything needs to fit in or it simply won't sell. Ever gone to a store that gives clothing for much cheaper prices based upon some error such as ripped stitching that you cannot even notice? That is how building can be: If it isn't to the best of your ability, it will be at much lower quality despite what you may think. I would not say you are 50% done if you want it to be a great build. Take your time, you can make it excellent! If you want more feedback, keep putting it out there. Good luck with the submission!
