You say that "staff is changing" but rather, the world is changing. Looking at the news and media and general, there has been an obvious shift from what is considered "acceptable" and not so much. Just about every staff member has a different system on what they feel like is too far when it comes to warnings, mutes, etc. and I know this from personal experience. No two staff members operate the same. If you have an issue with one in particular, contact them in private. If the issue persists, make a report on them or contact a higher-up, simple as that.

Anyways, back to my first point. Like Meat said above, there is no payment to the staff members, it is simply volunteer work. You cannot compare the police to the volunteers on a Minecraft server who maintain the peace. Sure, there are similarities but your analogy does not apply in any way, shape, or form.

I fully understand that this is your opinion but I am here with the facts. Times are changing, and staff are all different.

To be fair there is a line between mocking and discussing the topic.
I don't think mocking sensitive issues should be allowed.
"I hope you get cancer and die" hugely differs from "my - just got diagnosed with cancer :C"
I don't disagree with what you said, but it's all dependant on the situation + Staff

    You've missed my point.
To those people, it's enough just to see the word. Context it was used in DOES NOT interest them.

Sorry for the really late reply, but yes, I have had it happen, and usually the warning is for "harassment" or "inappropriate" or something. In fact, I came on one day and said "cancer" with NO context and nothing bad about it at all, and I was immediately told to "stop" saying "that word"

Regarding "kys", it's not as simple as some of the more ignorant staff make it out to be.

Saying "kys" is almost ALWAYS sarcasm and even if it isn't, it's NEVER intended for the other person to actually kill themselves. People are becoming way too sensitized, and just assume that "woah, suicide!! omg im so offended because i can't think for myself and will do what people on minecraft tell me to!"

Having a conversation and telling a kid to "Go kill yourself, drink some bleach" is WAY more serious than a simple "kys". "kys" is meant in an obviously joking or non-heavy way and should not be an instant warn (or whatever stupid punishment it has nowadays)

I agree, suicide is a touchy subject, but people also need to grow a tough skin because if we're going to warn people over CONTRACTIONS of something that MIGHT be offensive, might as well just do away right chat anyway.

Well when someone says "kys" to another user, how are we supposed to know it is a joke?

I like my job as staff but when someone tells me to "kys" and then says "its just a prank bro!!!!" right after, it honestly bothers me to see that people try to tell me to kill myself and think they can get away with it.

Besides, even if it's a joke, you're still going to be handed the same punishment as to when someone is not joking about telling someone to "kys" with the intent that they'll actually kill themselves, it depends on the context they're using it in. Saying that you meant "kys" by "kiss your socks" or "keep yourself safe" or "keep youtube safe" or something that doesn't make sense and doesn't relate to the context you're discussing about isn't going to change anything.

Suicide threats are not to be joked about, especially because it is something serious. I don't think I'd like to see my friend cut themselves especially because a person behind a screen told them to do so.

This thread has served its purpose.

We don't instant warn for any words anymore, unless the player has been warned for it multiple times in the recent past. This was changed a while ago.

To players: If you believe a warning was unfair, you can make an appeal in the ban appeals section. However, remember that something you don't find offensive might be offensive to someone else.

To staff: Remind each other that we don't warn players willy-nilly, we do it to protect the community. Warning people for the smallest thing won't achieve that
