Sorry? Unlike cars or hammers, guns are meant to kill. You can't exactly build a house or drive to the supermarket with a gun. Guns have 1 purpose: To launch fast and leathal projectiles with easy. Whatever the target is, it will most likely die if the bullet hits it, especially in the head/chest. You can say that hammers amd cars have the same effect, but I've never heard if wars fought with tools or vehicles only.

As well as the "hugher crime" statement, that's a blatant fucking lie. Look at the crime rates in the UK, Scamdinavia, or even australia, and compare them with the U.S.'s crime rates. They are significantly lower than ours. Why? They don't exactly have free will to go willy nilly with a legally bought gun into a convenience store and steal the cash there. Does the black market thrive? Yes, but if you're so concerned with the black market thriving on one single area, how about you push for legalization of other things that don't kill you, like weed or prostitution? But, I digress.

Yes, and that is why many people buy guns, that's why most law-abiding citizens buy guns. Now, don't you think it would be easier to protect your family if robbers and criminals didn't buy guns from the same stores as you, or even online on legal gun manufacturer's websites?

 

Don't forget that if a criminal wants a gun, he is going to get one no matter what type of laws are in place.
In fact, if someone really wanted you dead, they do not even have to use a gun.
As of your agrument, while they may be buying guns from the same stores as anyone else, even if you took that away, it does not change anything.
A criminal who wants to commit a crime is going to commit a crime.

Perfectly written. My exact thoughts on gun control. Better to defend yourself with one. Just look at paris, a gun free country, shot up by someone with a gun. They couldnt defend themselves with guns, by the time police arrive it could be 100s dead.

 

And your right, there is no true way to stop determined criminals, and people like Omar, the shooter of orlando, probably would have gone to the black market to get his guns, but atleast he isn't getting his guns from actual state-approved stores.

Here's a brief list of red-flags on Omar:
•Investigated by the FBI for links to a suicide bomber
•Talked about killing people at work
•Bipolar as fuck
•Beat his wife

He was an unstable and, as clearly shown, dangerous bigot who was actually under FBI investigation, yet he bought a gun legally. How the fuck do you not see a problem in that? I love my guns as the next guy, and I've got no problem with guns, but put some common sense out there, and make it so people with criminal records can't legally get guns, because surprisingly enough, the black market and deep web isn't that easy to get to. If it was, it would've been wiped out from it's scourge long ago.

 

Im seeing some of his points yes, but take a look at a gun free zone like paris and brussels and see how that ended up. Not so good.

 

This was quite tragic news to wake up to, its really a shame that people just cant get along anymore.

This ISIS group needs to be dealt with as soon as possible, they are quickly rising to power gaining followers worldwide and we simply arent doing enough to stop them. Other countries are actually fighting them except america, because were in too much political turmoil to even do anything. We need to open our eyes and realize that we've got Bigger problems in our world that we all need to come together and fight against. We do not need to erupt into a 2nd american civil war, and we definitely do not need to Erupt into world war 3.

I have nothing against people in the LGBT community, As i was raised to Respect people for who they are and not for there Race, Sex, Religion or ethnicity, Im truly sorry for the families who have lost loved ones to this Heinous act of Terrorism and Hate.

Even though it states in the 2nd amendment ofthe Constitution that we have the natural right to own a Weapon to protect our Life liberty and property, We really should crack down on who gets a weapon. They should make it where you have to be ran through a thorough background check to make sure you are not a criminal, your mentally stable, and that you can hold the responsibility of owning a lethal weapon. Im not saying to revoke the right from people, im just saying we should make it so that firearms don't fall into the wrong hands like the Orlando shooter.

As many others have said this is yet another horrible and senseless shooting of innocent people that simply trying to be who they want to be.

Now Gun Control does not equal outright banning of guns. Simply removing assault weapons and implementing background checks will make a huge difference. Yes, criminals will still be able to get guns but it will be more difficult. And this does work. You only occasionally hear about mass shootings in places like Australia or the UK which have gun control.

I heard a quote from a gun laws expert on TV: "The second amendment was written during a time where Americans were in fear of the British invading." now I'm not saying the Second Ammendment should be outright removed, rather that the government simply implement restrictions on the selling and buying of firearms.

My condolences go out to the families involved, and I hope that for once something might change.

 

I don't understand how people feel that gun control isn't a problem. If I went to a crowded area with a gun, I would be able to kill most of the people there. But what if I went there with another deadly weapon like a knife or a hammer? exactly.

Yes because they go out on a mass hammerings. They leave the house that day intending to do as much damage as possible, so they won't just leave with a simple kitchen knife. If it isn't a gun, it is a tool that can shoot to kill or a bomb.
Removal of guns will not stop violence, they will find other ways to kill as many people as possible in a short amount of time.

What happened is horrible, but the arguments here about gun laws are useless. What I think should be the main topic is how this man was able to buy these guns while he was already being investigated by the FBI. He is not allowed to go on planes, but he is allowed to go to a gun store and legally buy a glock and another unnamed rifle? I like guns, and I don't think that no one should be allowed to have them. But there have to be stricter laws on them in America.
Much much much much many more many strict very many more stricter laws. Where I am from, it is not worth getting a gun. Getting one legal is a long process which isn't worth it if you just want one to have one. And getting caught with a illegal gun is something you don't want either.

This is currently a sensitive topic, but I do think we are all better off making a nice drawing or writing some nice words to the family and victims instead of going in the biggest fucking circle jerk about gun laws. I know its a little hypocritical to say this as I took my time to write all that and open the possibilities for more discussions, but I do believe this thread is better off if it drops the guns and weapons discussions.
