My Demotion

As you can already tell by the title, yes, I was demoted. I was confused at first why I was demoted and I was shocked, but I figured I would let the community know why. I feel as thought people deserve to know.

It all started a while ago when me and a person I knew (lets call them Steve) got into an argument. Essentially, Steve made me mad for various reasons that I can't really go into detail about, but essentially I ended up being harassed by a person that knew Steve irl. The person messaged me this:


I didn't think this was right at all and this was out of no where. I was mad at Steve for allowing this person to harass me and I even thought that Steve gave them my Skype, but I later found out that this person got my Skype through my forums account. Anyways, so that was the first part that happened. I was really mad at Steve and I didn't want to talk to them for a while because of this.

Time went by and I found out more about Steve and the person that sent rude things to me on Skype. Things that I was never told about Steve were finally brought to my attention. Though I can't go into detail about what these things specifically were, just know that they were bad things. Things that would make our certain "friendship" together fall apart. So naturally I became very mad at Steve and eventually when they were no longer apart of my life, I would say bad things about them. I admit that it was very wrong of me to do this, but people become frustrated and do things they shouldn't. I called Steve a bitch and I said rude and hurtful things about them, but I feel like it was appropriate (at the time) due to what I found out about them.

It's not that I'm upset that I was demoted, but its more because I am upset due to the reason behind me being demoted. Not only that, but for the past couple of days now, people have given me a lot of shit for no reason. Okay, to the few that know the whole situation... Yes, I did make a mistake and yes I did cuss Steve out, but really, don't tell me how to feel and what to do. I feel bad for saying hurtful things, but I'm not denying that the hurtful things I said weren't true. I really did think they were being a bitch. I really did think that what they did to me was rude and uncalled for. I should have been allowed to express these opinions like many of the staff have done before. You think for one second I'm the only staff member that has ever cussed someone out or at least been rude to someone? If that's the case, then you are highly mistaken. People are allowed to express and say things and even though it might not always be appropriate or right, the worst punishment I have ever seen been given is a warning. What happened to me? I was demoted.

The other thing that made me mad was when I said these rude things to Steve, it was over Skype. I was told in the past that as long as you don't cause trouble on the forums or server, it can't be dealt with. Situations that have happened in the past that have involved people harassing each other on Skype couldn't be dealt with. Now all of a sudden, my little outbursts over Skype about Steve are being used as a reason for my demotion. I could have had at least a warning or even been questioned before I was demoted, but that didn't happen. I literally woke up a couple of days ago at like 8 AM and BAM, I was demoted out of no where.

I know I'm probably going to get a lot of hate for this, but honestly I have been getting hate for no reason for the past couple of days now. I have been talked to like I have no idea what I'm doing and I have been getting treated unfairly. It's not cool when you have everyone messaging you "o7" and asking if you resigned. Also, it was not fair to have some people tell me what to do and how to act when they don't even know the full situation.

And if any staff feel like this needs to be deleted, I urge you not to because I want people to know why I was demoted and I want people to know my own personal opinion about my demotion. I am entitled to my opinion, so please don't limit it by deleting this thread or locking it.

Long story short, I admit that it was wrong to say bad things to Steve, but in the long run, I don't think what I said was bad enough for a demotion and it wasn't public to the server at all. This was in a chat group with people that I thought I could trust and I was just expressing my opinions.
I am not a bad person and people give me such a hard time for so many things. I feel like I can't trust anyone anymore and it just hurts me that people over the past couple of days that I thought were my "friends" have betrayed me and spread even more rumors about me that aren't true. I'm not asking for everyone reading this to give me sympathy or even forgive me, I am just asking that you try to understand my POV. It seems like sometimes people only support their friends or any side that will give them the better "image." And hey, if you want to hate me and think I'm so terrible, you can, that's completely fine too. I know who I am irl and I know who I truly am on here and I'm not going to let my demotion bring me down and have this issue ruin me. I just wanted to make this thread to clear some things up, that's all.

Some people should know who this "Steve" person is. I don't think what they said was appropriate and if you need proof that this isn't fake, I will send anyone who already knows who "Steve" is the actual screenshot without the name covered up.

As I was reading, I felt more and more urged to type this message, and I simply can't turn a blind eye so I guess it is best to say this...

I have repeated this over and over in my previous posts. We are all human, we all make mistakes, and we can't be perfect. No human could possibly have no flaws. Staff members are not robots. Just because they wield a higher prefix than us does not mean they are not human just like us.

As a staff, people look up to you and expect you to lead by example. We see staff as teachers, but even in school, teachers make mistakes too. Just because a person has a staff rank does not immediately mean that they are perfect, flawless, and will not make a mistake from time to time.

To insult a person for a small mistake is in no way respectable. I am sure most of the people who have given @Joseph10003 hate have once done the same thing as him. I am willing to assume each and every one of us has been upset to the point where their actions were beyond their control.

I will not judge Joseph's demotion. Staff have their reasons, and I am in no position to claim that his demotion was wrong, because I have no experience as a staff member myself. However, I will say that an ironic incident had happened earlier. A staff member whose name will not be mentioned to protect their identity had been in a Skype call with me about a year ago. This staff member had a troubled history with me, and they particularly were not comfortable in my presence. This staff member had told me of the many ways they would love to see my death, they threatened to auto-deny any staff applications I made, and they had insulted me for who I was. I had recorded partial audio clips of this conversation, but the report was strangely denied. Why Joseph was demoted for these Skype messages and the other staff member wasn't remains a mystery to me.

@Joseph10003 you are a great staff member, and I hope you are able to move on from this. In no way does one mistake define who you really are. There are honestly many great things about you that outweigh your negatives extremely. These "friends" who have insulted you for your actions are not true friends. If a friend is not willing to forgive you or is willing to abandon you for a simple mistake, then they aren't a true friend, nor do they deserve your friendship.

You did not ask for sympathy, and for the strong person you are, Joseph, I am sure you will be able to handle this on your own, but if you need to speak to someone who understands, I am always an open book.

I just got back and don't know the whole story,
so I won't really comment on that aspect
but it seems kinda messed up to me...

I will. I just wanted to inform people about my side of the story since I was demoted before even getting a chance to explain my POV.

 

This looks like an argument people have when they're seven, when they would say the worst things to eachother like 'stupid' and 'poohead', and afterwards they go up to their teacher and start bitching about it, lol. I expected a little more fire in this story.. :(

With this I mean a demotion is a bit too much (solely judging from this).

 

In my opinion, it was an unfair demotion. That person sent really mean and inappropriate things, even far worse than calling someone a "bitch" and cussing them out a little (as from what you said in the OP), and you were only doing what you thought was right and biting back. It was far too big of a punishment and you probably should of only received a warning or something, we're all human and have our flaws and are not perfect.
I still see you as the caring and friendly person that you are, I'm glad to hear that you are not going to let this BS demotion change you and have this whole ordeal ruin you.

There may be more to your demotion, I don't know, but if it's all about "Steve" and his Skype then imho it's ridiculous.

EDIT: Adding on to this post, after reading Willy's post below I do disagree with it being an unfair demotion.. I didn't know the full story and didn't really look in to your work here so I apologise for my unintelligent post, I should've thought more about this before I posted. When I first read this, it sounded like you were saying the only thing you had done to be demoted was the cussing from the "Steve" incident but that clearly was not the case.

 

I don't think you deserved any of this, you made a simple mistake, and those are what makes us human, it's what makes us improve ourselves for the future. Any true friend would understand that you made a mistake, not pounce on you like a hungry animal.

 

I've to say this, I've known you for a while, your not afraid of saying your opinions or anything, though caring about someone like this, you shouldn't, they're exact the same as the YouTube comment section, it's toxic, so if most people that's here, and on irl as well, or anywhere, and you being demoted for that reason, it makes me laugh, it really is, only becuase your acting exactly the same as he did so it? People are just dumb and demoting people that they don't like, it's simple as that, that's why I don't want to apply as you'll get hate left and right, and if you do one thing wrong oh well you'll have more hate and get shit like this on normal bases, though I wish you luck Joseph.

 

You forgot to mention the fact that you were on your last warning as a Staff Member, as I clearly explained to you in the past, you'd be kept on a short leash due to bad behavior you had. You agreed to this "deal".

You broke it and went against the warning you had previously agreed to. I'm not going into further detail because demotions are not a matter to be discussed in public.

Let's just take a moment to consider that you've handled 3 reports on the forums SINCE you've been promoted and haven't handled any in the past 40 days. You've issued 1 warning in the past 30 days. You've issued 53 warnings in total. You've been a staff for over 3 months, 100 days to be exact: an average of 0,53 warnings a day.
