Do you know what never gets old? New ideas.
I never get old of new ideas.
    New ideas never get old.

I was just asking myself what I enjoyed doing and I came to a sort of (or maybe I sort of came to) a disappointing conclusion, the same for years, that I didn't really enjoy doing anything. And that's the same reason I'm undeclared going into college and I have no direction or goals in life-not really. I have an affinity for and don't NOT enjoy certain subjects like Math and English and well, Science a bit, and also History too, I guess. I never really enjoyed the question "What's your favorite academic subject?" which was always a little passed around, by myself included. But I never actually understood how to answer, because I cared about all of them equally. None of them were so hard or boring or disappointing that another stood out. I might have thought once or twice that I felt I wasn't learning anything valuable-'History is literally pointless. Like math makes sense because it's logical and it is actually, oh I dunno, used in everyday life? English makes sense to a certain degree because if you don't know it, you literally cannot exist with a house in modern day society. Also you're kind of a loser if you can't read. And I even get science, because someone has to advance humanity. But unlike science, which goes to the future, history just makes us look to the past. And only history teachers can make a living out of it!' Somehow history, the art of learning from past mistakes and events, never revealed itself to me as having value, which I can now only say absolutely belongs on the school curriculum. If we didn't have history, have the shit we said and thought would be unjustifiable. "Why not go communist? Community is in its name! Think about it! We'd all feel happy because we were all doing as well as everyone else, we all get the same food, voting power, you just need to do your part! And thereof we'd find ourselves in our own little utopia! Wouldn't that be neat?" Just try denying the logic in that when you haven't read a history book.

All the same I ultimately cared for the subjects equally. And I would only really have fleeting moments of direction in my life when I was inspired by, you guessed it, a n e w i d e a. I remember for a couple years I wanted to be an acupuncturist! I read a book where an acupuncturist had serious, clinical power and prowess and by accurately, precisely impaling NEEDLES, FUCKING NEEDLES into someone else's skin, these motherfuckers could cure disease. Hell, that's practically an anime protagonist! I fix people by using eastern magical techniques and the art of electricity within the body. I was infatuated with that for a couple years. I've also desired to be a chef, a ninja, a̶ ̶t̶i̶m̶e̶t̶r̶a̶v̶e̶l̶e̶r̶, a pro E-Sports League of Legends player, a Youtuber, a doctor, an ambassador, and multiple times, I've wanted to be an author of fantasy: I had read many a series of fantasy-Percy Jackson, Eragon, Fablehaven, Ranger's Apprentice, Brotherband, and many more. They were my source of joy and I also liked the thought: "Hey maybe I can make other people feel this way." But these are just phases, inspiration and temporary motivation to become something ideal, which were in reality not what I wanted. Now I kind of like the idea of becoming an "Ambassador", as ridiculous as that sounds, mostly because I can't think of anything else high-paying that would like the fact that I know English aaaaannnnnnnnd CHINESE. Yea I'm seriously going to try to learn it, and I would like it to be a good long-term skill. So once again, I'm attached to one idea of a huge concept which I haven't grasped the beginnings of. So we'll see what comes of this idea.

...and so I was thinking all that when I realized the one thing I never really get tired of is new ideas. If I could have a new, great idea everyday that I worked as a cashier, that could just be my dream job. But in reality a new, good, idea will have me once every long while. And trying to "think of a new idea" is a seemingly absurd request in reality, because our ideas are typically formulated from things we see in nature or our environment. They are the result of things that we can observe, or think of, which are ultimately still inspired by things we can observe, and we won't have too many instances of things we don't usually observe happening in front of us, which kind of explains the lack of ideas.

.. and so I was thinking that I finally understand what I enjoy, which are new ideas, and I can take this critical piece of information and apply it to what I want to do for the rest of my days. I can also use the art of looking back in time to explain why I do certain things, like why I became so consumed by Minecraft parkour and speedrunning. It's just RIDDLED with good ideas and crazy ways to get some other place faster. And in a strange sort of way every world record is the fastest run out of MILLIONS of others that tried to be you. Everyone has the same model, the same power, the same capacity, and yet you of all people did it the quickest! You are the more efficient machine. It would just be incredible to see an overlay of EVERY RUN ON A MAP EVER so that you just see the most nimble model ever so slightly break away from the herd and become an outlier of all the machines racing to the finish.

And so I believe that learning a new language would be really good for me. I think languages foreign to our own probably hold veins of ideas that given our own language we just never experience. Probably calculus is a good idea to learn, too, if I had to guess. It's basically another language.

Okay that's the end of my rant about ideas. Did any find you reading this?

Oui.
