Minecraft Minecraft 1.13 Snapshot!

Hi peoples, so a new Minecraft update is on the way, which happens to be 1.13, It was originally going to be a technical update but Mojang decided to merge the upcoming 1.14 into this update, so that means we will be getting all of the new stuff earlier! 1.14 was called "The Update aquatic" which adds a whole range of new stuff to oceans, So let's see what kind of goodies we can find in this new update!

So first and foremost, the Game runs much smoother than it used to, they changed the world generation as well as made a few tweaks and patches to previous bugs and performance issues, so it seems people will have an easier time running the game on their PC now. :)

Now for the Good part!

The first thing they added was Sea turtles! These guys spawn on beaches and they even lay eggs which hatch into teeny little sea turtles. These things totally remind me of Crush from Finding nemo.


There's plenty of things you can do with sea turtles, if you attack them, they drop a Turtle shell peice which you can use to make a turtle helmet. It gives you 10 seconds of water breathing when you wear it.

Not only that, but they added a new potion related to turtles, they call it "Potion of the turtle master" What that does is that it gives you slowness 4 and resistance 5, so technically it makes you a Juggernaut. I can totally see this being used in Player vs Player fights.

And speaking of Combat, there's a New weapon! and since it's an update to Oceans, it's a Trident! This thing is powerful as hell, It's actually even stronger than a diamond sword , I hear it's getting a big nerf in the future but for now it's the most powerful weapon in the game. It can be used as both a melee and a Ranged weapon, and it has its own special enchantments.

The enchantments are "Loyalty" where if you throw it at an enemy, it comes back to you similar to a Boomerang or Thor's hammer. The 2nd enchantment is called "Riptide" where if you use it underwater or in the middle of a rainstorm, It propels you through the air and even underwater. The 3rd is called "Impaling" which is just the Trident's version of Sharpness, and last but not least, probably the most powerful enchantment out of all of them, "Channeling" Which allows you to summon lightning from the sky during thunderstorms to attack your enemies. So now you too can be just like Poseidon!


So now that we got the trident out of the way, let's take a look at some new blocks!

First thing they added was more wood related stuff, First there's a new block called "Stripped wood" where it takes off the bark around the block itself, You use an Axe to do this and it takes 1 durability. Also, we have Actual bark blocks in the game so you dont have to worldedit them in anymore!


There's also new Buttons, Pressure plates and even trapdoors! They added so much that you can make with just wood.

Prismarine got a little update too! now we have slabs and stairs for all 3 versions of Prismarine. :)

Now we're going to get into the biggest part of this update, the actual oceans. They added quite a bit to make them look prettier, Now we got things like Kelp, Sea grass and even Seaweed!




The cool part about this is that these blocks are animated, so when you're underwater, they all sway back and forth. The next biggest update to the ocean is swimming, You now can sprint underwater to get around faster!


They even programmed in a little swimming animation for your character now, which in my opinion was a nice touch.

One thing I forgot to mention with Sea turtles is that you might want to protect their eggs, Zombies gained a habit of going up to the eggs and stomping all over them.

I dont know why zombies would have a grudge with some sea turtles, I did hear something about one of them biting the zombies in the ass, but Im not sure they just hate each other's guts. Not only zombies but Husks do the same thing. Keep a fence around your turtle eggs everyone.

There's also bubble columns in the ocean now too, they are made when magma blocks are present, Dont go near these things or else they will suck you down along with your boat to the ocean floor.

And last but not least, the New Mob that was voted by the fans at Minecon earth, The Phantom! (Or as I like to call them Phantarays) These guys only come out if you havent slept for a while, They also spawn and fly around in packs and will attack you if you get within range, One thing to note is that these little creatures are creepy o_o they also take off quite a bit of health so if you're going AFK for a while, stay inside your house.

/me hopes the technical changes will be so big that it will force servers to upgrade but knows that they probably still won't


nice to see the oceans finally get some love, not sure what I think of the phantom, seems a bit of an odd inclusion to me.

 

I forgot to say this but there's also a new feature that allows you to view a list of commands, what it does is that if you type in a command it helps you determine which one you want to put in. It's like your phones autocorrect or something along the lines of that. :)

I'm not up to minecraft updates.
But this one is absolutely gorgeous and fun to mess around with.
1.8 and this snapshot is my favourite versions.

 

I wasn't excited about the new update when I first heard about it, but this seems pretty interesting.

 

anyway:
new blocks don't seem bad for builders
turtles are cute but unnecessary
phantoms are odd and unnecessary

adding too many useless mobs and mechanics in the game is just going to make me (and a LOT of other players) turn away from the newer versions more and more
