hello, I have recently become interested in purchasing a desktop monitor + computer (currently have a laptop that crashes because I run too much shit on it). I was just wondering what you all have/would recommend. It doesn’t have to be fancy, just basic quality and works well.

price range- something around what a good basic computer + monitor would be

run with mac or windows- either one is fine/which one would you recommend?

also what is the best basic keyboard and mouse to purchase?

I don’t have the greatest knowledge on this shit but I want to start getting into working with tech/coding, and basic stuff like that (might wanna major it in college, not sure thou) so yea that’s about it

Much of this stuff depends on personal preference and what you'll use it for. If you want the best performance for the money, get a PC. Just do some research and build your own. You could get a prebuilt but that'll cost more than if you were to buy the parts and build it yourself (it's really not that hard, trust me).

    Good luck.

I recommend running with Windows and you should be able to get a very solid PC with around USD$700. Also, purchase the parts separately and build it yourself. Don't cheap out on the power supply because if you do that, you will fuck up your whole PC.

Just a side note on this - make sure you properly research PSU quality and don't go cheap on them. A while ago my Corsair PSU (albeit not an amazing one) even while Corsair is a trusted brand, failed and left my PC not functioning properly for two weeks until I got a replacement.
My point is, don't simply trust brand names either.
    Good luck :)

If you want to get the best for your money use windows and if you know how to build your own PC do that because you are able to design it for your needs like if you wanted to do mostly gaming you could put more money into a GPU which would be better fps.

There's a crap ton of video guides on YouTube about what system to build and for what uses.

I would personally strongly recommend building it yourself. You can save a lot of money on building yourself a great PC than wasting money on one for the same amount of money, but fails to handle most gaming. I can say for certain that you can get a pretty decend PC for less than $600. :P
