Hey guys. My mom is 5'0" and my dad is 5'9". Some random calculator online said I'm going to grow up to be 5'7". Is it short, average, or fairly tall? I'm a 15 year and 11 month old boy. I know 6'0"+ people are gonna be cocky and say its short, but its short for THEM, not in general. Discuss.
In my opinion, that's an okay height. It seems about average for our age (I'm 16 so we are in similar age groups). A ton of kids in my school, younger and older are my height so I wouldn't really worry about it. Also, it really isn't short unless you're constantly around people 6'0 and up.
By whose standards? Global average? National average for whichever country you live in? General personal opinion? If it's the last one, then I'd say 5'7" is edging on the lower end of "fairly tall"
I'd say 5'7" is actually good for adult height, and after a quick research shows around average height in the USA, so I'd say you're fine. I want to say something else as well. First of all, don't rely on height calculators. Why? Because your adult height depends on a few factors, you won't know your adult height until you actually get there. Secondly, are you a late bloomer or an early bloomer? (Excessively) early bloomers will usually be shorter due to the fact that their bones have not fully grown by the time by the time they have finished their growth spurt.
In my opinion, 5’7 is a good height especially considering your parents’ height. I’m 16, my dad is about 6’1 or 6’2 and my mom is about 5’3. I am 5’10 and probably not done growing yet.
Guys usually keep on growing until they reach ~21. It's not tall, but it's not that short either. It depends on where you live though, because if you're Dutch, for example, that's pretty short. You shouldn't worry about it too much, it's not an unusual height. It's completely fine. I'm 17 years old, around 5'7 and it doesn't bother me at all. Spoiler: Since you probably thought about this You shouldn't have a problem getting girls because of your height, in case you're worried about it (I used to worry about it when I was your age). I have a girlfriend, she's just a bit shorter than me and she's a lovely young lady who doesn't care about it at all :) It's all about the personality dood
Im surprised with all the replies, and that calculator is dead wrong. There is no way you can find your exact height without looking into your genetics and doing genetic tests. You can't just average your height from your mom's and dad's height. I'm learning about genetics in school right now, and that is called something that I can't remember. But Gregor Mendel proved the theory everyone thought was right wrong. It is in the genetics, but it ALSO has to do with what you're eating. No calculator can calculate that. It is kind of unlikely that you will be 5'7. So if you don't feel good about being 5'7 then you'll be fine. If you were starting to feel good, too bad.
My mom is 5'1" and my dad is 5'7" My sister and I turned out to be 5'1" just like my mom. You can't just average your parent's sizes and expect to be that size, it doesn't always work that way. (I wish it did though damn #ShortySquad) If you do turn out to be 5'7", just like everyone else said, that's a decent size to be.
Got me and my friends height exactly, and was only an inch off of my moms height when I put in my grandparents info. I'm also pretty sure it doesn't just "Average the parents height" Not saying its a perfect guess, I just don't think it's as awful as you're making it out to be.
