Good evening, afternoon or morning. It's time that I shed some light on a very important topic, and the title represents multiple aspects of modern day society.

Suicide, a terrible act, to take your own life because of loss of self-worth, confidence or problems with no resolution, the feeling of self-hatred, the feeling of not fitting in.
Every single day on average, 114 innocent people in America take their own lives in belief that they aren't worth anything.

Politics very briefly cover this issue, yet it affects and tears apart lives of the loved ones who knew they deserved life. No person is not entitled to live, and everyones life is valued the same.

We live in a world where homicide and terrorism is what the rising generation has to face with on a daily basis, hiding that we're not seeing the underlying issue of suicide.

Suicide has recently affected me mentally, and I am suffering to stay concentrated at a school where my primary language is only learning what I learned in Kindergarten.
Enough blabbering about my personal problems. Suicide is a real problem, and I thought this video did bring very important things to light such as:
    • Featuring an African-American as the lead role, as well as making him gay, an even harder struggle.
    • Displaying how disowning a child affects who they are, but it's not too late to re-establish a relationship.
    • People do not define you, and calling the hotline is never going to be a negative outcome.
I am sure most of you have already heard this song, but it took me until today to see the music video, a truly empowering music video.

Please watch this. I've listed suicide hotlines for 3 countries that are seeing difficulties with suicide.
    1. United States: 1-800-273-8255
    2. Australia: Lifeline: 13 11 14 / Suicide Call Back Service: 1300-659-467
    3. UK: Normal: 0-800-068-4141 / Children: 0-800 1111
Please. Do not hesitate to call any of these.

I hear the suicide hotline is actually not very helpful. They basically say "dun do it" then call the police, and then more troubles ensue. By no means do I say you shouldn't call them up, but just be prepared to deal with a major uprooting of your life that may or may not be beneficial.

Sometimes, the music's meaning is greater than it's lyrics. In a recent lyric video meaning interview, he even explains this.

A fair point, until you see that all songs in this style, the rap/trap/rnb ish sort all have this same pattern. If you focus on the beat itself, you'll see how empty every single song sounds. I listened to a tiny bit of this, not too bad, the clear focus is the lyrics. It is down to taste and preference though, everyone has heard songs and reacted like "wtf is this", while others love it.

On the original topic of the thread, the song has a good message. One I like which teamed up with a charity to help raise awareness of child/teen bullying (often resulting in suicide from pressure and extreme situations) is
Gareth Emery & Standerwick - Saving Light. Feel free to listen.

    i'm laughing.
a song about suicide prevention isn't suppose to be "bubblegum pop song about sex, drugs up beat!1!1!~1!!"
it's not going to be upbeat, but it spreads the message. the message is clear in the song and stands out lmao
it's like a ballad but not; just a slow song with a perfect rhythm idk why it's getting any backlash lmaoooo

Obviously people aren't affected by the video, or just simply don't care.
To me, it's such a generic video. In times like these where these type of videos get put out monthly it's hard to be affected by them.
This is just another one, to the many to come.

Not to get me wrong, the message is great. And people claiming suicide hotline is useless, I think they are wrong. What would you rather have, someone to tell them to hold on just a little longer and have them be arrested or have them kill themselves? You can't just simply help a suicidal person over the phone, they need much more than that. So getting them arrested and put into a hospital or care home is much better then finding them dead.

Also, this forum has been fighting each other in every thread made the last few months so seeing people here all agree that a song is bad is great

I think the rapper/singer of the song did a very poor job in his past to display he really cares about his topic.
Right now, Logic isn't on my hate list for rappers, and the message in his most recent album is strong and empowering.

The song could have been 50% better just by making a little more touchy, kind of like John Legend. Can we also talk about Alessia Cara's amazing voice literally making this video 10x better for me.

In addition, I did research and the lyrics are meant to show the first part feeling sad, he then calls the line, the line tells him to not want to die, and then he doesn't want to die anymore. Pretty basic, but it's got it's roots.

And I am somewhat confused at 5:20

I'd rather a legitimate system that works rather than putting people in wards that leave them more scarred than they were before and pumped with an insane amount of mostly untested drugs. I'm no expert, but suicide rates have been increasing over the years, so obviously something isn't working

While I understand and have experienced the severity of the issue of suicide in our culture today, I don't think a Minecraft forums is the most effective place to bring such an issue up. It would be more outreaching to post on a more widely used social media platform where people would be more receptive to such a topic.

Suicide is one of those unknown things which is very hard to understand.
When someone commits suicide you always get those people saying ''I just don't understand why'' and that's the problem, it's so difficult to understand as to why someone has decided to end their own life. Of course you have the many cases where you can predict they'll do it, but you also have very young children or just people who always look very happy kill themselves.
And like you're saying, with the suicide rates increasing it's very hard to deal with all of them.
Places that help these people simply don't have enough staff or money to spend the time they need to treat their patients, leading into them just giving them some drug or some other pretty ineffective method.
But then again, I'd rather have a suicidal person who is willing to look for help call a suicide hotline and get taken away from places where they can end their own life. Obviously these people are still open to help, the ones who aren't are already dead.

I kind of agree. It only really came to light that he was lightskin and that he supports all this after the album came out-- at least to me. If this was shown by him before, then I guess you can call me a fake fan. But I really like his music and despite the fact that the message of this album seems a little synthetic, it's still a really good message and in the end, that's all that matters.

can we just take the time to realize that we're arguing over a song? Music is a preference, and if people don't feel a certain way about it then so be it
