I don't want to cause problems.

I'm sharing my opinion in an unfriendly manner, again in my opinion.

A thought out answer, but they change for good; you're representing the server's team(s), so I, personally would understand the changes people would make.

And here we see another nice thread which was meant to be a normal discussion, eaten by the toxicity of this community.

I don't really see any toxicity. It's just people afraid to state their opinion. There's nothing wrong with a small debate.

Anyways, before I was staff, I had a lot of friends who changed as staff members. I think the standards are much more different now than it was in 2014/15. I had people drop me right off the bat when they got promoted or they just started acting fake to fit in, which I personally never really understood. But there was also people who changed more to help their public appearance or grow their maturity. This is what I do understand because that is what I had to do. I don't think regular members understand what the view difference is as a staff member and a regular player. The difference is that the community has evolved a lot and staff members have to adapt to that. There's lots of new people and personalities both on and off the of the team and staff members have to be like fluid when dealing with players due to their differences. You have to be more mature and set an example for other players, so I see why some people begin to act a bit different when getting staff. But then again, you wouldn't have been promoted if you weren't already a good candidate. Not saying that just because you are promoted means you're perfect, because you obviously grow from there, but my point is that you don't have to really change everything as a staff member because you're already a good enough role model for the position.

I guess I am jumping back into this discussion, again, this is my opinion and this is nothing personal at all, I respect your opinion(s) and I am not judging you or critiquing you.

I heavily dislike this for one reason. You kind just say that you know that the answer, you don't really say "I think it's because", you just straight up tell everyone that it's because of that 1 reason why staff change. It's not really instant either, we're given time to learn and people help us along the way, we're not learning on our own.

People that stop players from joining are Moderators, by the way, and the least amount of time I have seem for a Helper -> Mod promotion was 2 months as a Helper, therefor, they had 2 months to experiment and ask questions. Again, that means it's not instant.

There is other staff information that I will not share, because, duh, it's staff information.

It's really annoying to see everyone in this thread just accept the idea that "change" is bad.

It really does bug me. EVERYONE just assumes change is bad. But it isn't. We all change. Over time, from significant events, from experiences. EVERYONE. THIS PART IS IMPORTANT. LISTEN UP:

If you went back in time a year ago and met yourself. You would not meet a psychological clone. You would not meet yourself. You would probably argue to hell and back with that person. Because you changed. You experienced more things than you did a year ago. You grew, you changed. You matured. The same is happening with most of the staff.

I hate that so many people on this thread forget this.

Fam point me to where he said staff changed for the worse, cuz he's just sayin staff changed

@Lucario I just read through every post on this thread again to check and there isn't a single person here who is under the belief that change is necessarily bad.

I do however understand what you mean (I think). This comes back to the unnecessarily cryptic end to my first post (sorry).
What I meant was that the negative connotation of change comes (originally not at all fully) from something to do with the adaption of human instincts, as we've evolved to oppose that which may upset our daily routine. Basically as neanderthals/whatever else sort of humans there were back then if something were to affect the 'Wake-Hunt-Eat-Sleep' cycle it would almost certainly be some form of danger. The reason I asked @Meckering was because I thought he might know more about it than me if he's studying psychology.

    EDIT:
    -.-

    *change in staff members

While that is a very insightful theory, It's a little hard to believe, as we as a species had 40,000 years to evolve past that primative way of thinking and life.

I know we've had issues, mainly because of my sarcasm.. which makes it difficult to know if I'm joking or serious. That aside, you are in my top of favorite staff members. My favorites aren't people who I'm buddy buddy with, they're people who do their job well. My perspective is different than most because my 'playing' on the server is more often than not just reporting people. I admit I do make mental notes of the staff I find most helpful and the ones I think are less than good at their job.

(One suggestion, if you're finding that the stress is getting to you talk to @Ezzerland about it. I see the stuff he deals with in game (and from me at home) and he is one of the most patient people. He rarely gets angry. He's helped me a lot with my anger and frustration issues.)

Our brain runs on primal functions that are completely different than what makes us 'intelligent'. Look into brain development in early childhood compared to adolescence and adulthood. In most cases, the human brain doesn't fully mature until 25. The average player here is 15-18.

The replies in this thread make it clear that people are more afraid of this becoming toxic than it actually is.
    (Highfive @Stellarite)

The "most" toxic post here (including things that were deleted) is the OP saying "If I have to say ____, I'll lock the thread"
No mate, encourage your discussion and accept difference of opinion. Otherwise, lock the thread now before you become toxic.

    a) People change (better or worse)
    b) It's difficult to see change in one self
    c) A difference of opinion is not a toxic approach
    d) If you feel yourself being irritated or agitated, step away

    Enough.

The only reason that this thread is causing problems is because you're saying it's causing problems.

You have all derailed this so far. This was not a thread to discuss the communities toxicity, it was to debate weather people changed when they become staff. It pisses me off how some of the staff are derailing this too. Cough @Ezzerland
By the way, I'm going to pm you my response, seen as I've barely woken up yet.
I don't think that this thread will be of any further use to anybody.

Next time, every time you write a reply on a thread, read the title.
Thanks to the people who actually debated.
