most efficent way to kill a zombie?

This just a fun idea that got me thinking after watching a few episodes of walking dead. The factors to think about are range, sound, damage, speed, weight and size. I was thinking maybe a long barreled slingshot styled sniper rifle, but it wouldn't be easy to move and run with something like that, and if theres a horde your screwed because it isnt fast enough. So i thought of a weaponized airsoft handgun, but that isnt very fast, and airsoft guns are fairly loud and cant shoot very far. Id like to see what anyone has thought about.

P.S dont mention any spoliers for walking dead, im only on episode 3 and i really like the show.

 

i would agree, but crossbows are usally large and bulky, unless they can fold, which comes to the fact that they are slow and couldnt help you in a horde.

i havent seen much walking dead, only up to episode 7 or something, but humans can be reasoned with, and i think that makes them much less scary.
