The rank Eagle is the highest rank in BSA. Not Cub Scouts. Cub Scouts and the Boy Scouts of America are separated by age group and do not correlate with each other. If they are able to obtain Eagle they have to move through the ranks of Scouting which are, Scout, Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, Star, Life, then Eagle.

All this is because one girl was upset she couldn't earn the same badge her brother did.

We condemn people who throw tantrums over items or not getting what they want.

Why do we bow down to a girl throwing a hissy fit over not being able to achieve a badge?

Rules are rules, no matter how unfair they may be.
The scout programs, as well as school, teach us how to act appropriately in society.
Leaning you can't get everything you want, no matter how hard you work for it, or how much you want it, is an important lesson we learn.

By allowing this, we're going to have more entitled generations.

If she didn't like how the boy scouts/girl scouts, she should have made her own.
You can't just break up a friend group just because YOU don't like how it's run. It wasn't her place to change things and it comes across heavily as if she's entitled.

"Despite the similarities between the programs, a 2011 study in Gender & Society, a journal focused on gender studies, found that Girl Scouts are generally discouraged from scientific pursuits while Boy Scouts are pushed away from artistic interests.

The study found that the girls are offered more art activities than the boys, but science activities make up only 2% of their activities and 6% for the boys. The girls’ activities are more communal, with 30% of their badge work taking place in groups, while the boys work is more self-oriented with less than 20% of their work taking place in a group."

They should've just made like two categories for Boy scouts and Girl scouts. For example, a Boy scout and Girl scout could choose a path that's more artistic than athletic or more athletic than artistic. There are a lot of boys who would rather like to create things and paint and girls who would rather play sports. Girl scouts could have also just changed the titles and put Eagle scout for the Girl scouts if that was such a big problem. The reason why this shit would probably never happen is because Boy scouts have some type of shit called the Scout oath or Scout law. In my opinion, I get it, you wanna keep the tradition going but times are changing. Gender roles are changing. Girls don't want to be as girly as before and some boys don't care if they're not as manly.

I disagree with Boy scouts admitting girls but, I don't really care at the same time. Joining a scout is literally to just have fun and grow as a person. People are making a big deal out of nothing. It's quite sad to be honest.

Thats kind of a bad attitude for things like this. You could say the same thing about people like Rosa Parks, as you might say she was just "a black women throwing a tantrum because she couldn't get the same seat on the bus that white people had." And I understand that the civil rights movement was a lot bigger then this but at the same time that ideology of "life isn't fair" and "rules are rules" sets us up to have a world with a superior class, and lower minority groups.

They aren't breaking up any friend groups. These new changes are going to be completely separate programs for girls. They won't be co-ed, so it won't change anything with existing troops. Honestly I don't really see why this is such a big deal, its just letting girls be able to go camping with their friends.

I understand that, but I was just saying they have two new seperate plans for letting girls into boy scouts,
    1. Let them have their own cub scout groups
    2. Let them have a new separate group in which girls can obtain eagle scout, and the other ranks.

I'm going to admit, yeah it sounds bad, but teaching children that life isn't fair and that no one can be truly equal is a very important lesson and shouldn't be ignored because we want to "achieve equality".

Comparing this to what Rosa did is like comparing apples and oranges.
There's a difference between stopping human rights and stopping someone who doesn't meet criteria into a voluntary club.
    She didn't have to join.

It's like me demanding I be able to purchase items such as alcohol, knives, cigarettes.
"People over 18 can so why can't I????" - me, 17 years of age.
Rules are rules. I may be responsible and find it unfair I can't purchase knives but doesn't mean it should be changed.

Bad example aside, the boy scouts is something voluntary. You don't have to do it.
Therefore, like this server, you have to follow their rules.
It's not "fair" (albeit I highly disagree) but guess what? Tough luck that's how life goes.

We can't be equal as a society as we're all too different.
That doesn't mean we can't strive to achieve fairness in most cases.
But this isn't something you can just go "oh but equality". Sorry, but rules are rules. They never had to be fair.

If you don't like the rules of a place, leave.
One person should never dictate what happens to everyone else.
    That's called dictatorship.

    ---
It's only such a "big deal" to me as I loathe selfish behaviour.
It makes me so angry that someone breaks rules for themselves. Changing rules can be good but this isn't good.
She had the option to join girl scouts and her selfish attitude said "nah I want what he's got".

Reminds me of "mummy he has an ice cream I want one"
"Sorry sweetie I don't have enough money"
"I DONT CARE GET ME ONE NOW"

Bruh kidding me, I agree because like its called boy scouts and sometimes if only ONE girl joins it can get awkward and it might feel weird I guess.

Like they should be seperated and if they are old enough to be united you know.
Its the same thing here like from 6 - 11 you are apart and 11+ its united.

Okay, to begin with, BSA is not about being athletic only, The program is designed to give life skills to young men growing up in society to be a better citizen in the community and make the nation better as a whole. The "Shit" you say that is the Scout Oath and Law, "A scout is Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Cheerful, Brave, Clean and Reverent." "On my honor I will do my best to do my duty to god and my country, to obey the scout law, to help other people at all times, to keep my self physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight." The oath and Law are not the same as the Eagle rank, for it is just a rank. The point of Eagle is to acknowledge the fact you live by the scout law and oath in your everyday life.

This is what scouts is about, I myself try to follow behind the Scout Oath and Law because it does infant impact the people around me. I haven't been going to Cub and Boy scout meetings since first grade to play hide and seek and dodge ball and I think that fellow scouts and scouters would agree with me.

Each boy scout troop you will find is different, It is the boys troop. They decide the activities in which they participate and the adult leaders of the troop are there to guide them in the right direction. In my opinion there should not be a path that is either more artistic or athletic or vice versa because what we decide as a troop is how we plan our outings or events.

I am not saying you are wrong about women being less "Girly" I am just clarifying how you present yourself on saying what you think scouting is about. Its not about earning badges and acting like Russel from "Up" To be honest that is a sterotype that has scouts labled as a nerd group for kids who need something to do.
