Today is a very special day for the Americans.

Approximately 16 (!) years ago, on September 11, 2001 was one of the worst days in America's history. Let's take a moment to remember the people who died on this day.

    Stay safe, everyone.

Please try to keep this thread civil.

I don't even want to hear about this day. Because every time I hear it, feel really sad myself. I am sorry for your lost. :frown:

A very historical day for all. An unfortunate event happened that day that touched everyone.

Many people makes memes out of this but it doesn't deserve it. A lot of people lost their lives and it's really unfortunate for their families.

A guy 3 years ahead of me is originally from America, his father was a policeman, and was killed on 9/11. I can't imagine what pain people go through thinking that they'll never see their loved ones faces alive again, and only have a photograph or two left.

    Rest in Peace.

It's fucking sad you made a thread on this. 9/11 is the past and should be forgotten, everyone I know tries to avoid it as much as possible, why greif when you don't have to.

And don't tell me I don't have the "right" to talk about this, my uncle died in 9/11

The current town I live in lost the most people in the horrific event, and I know some people that still mourn over the loss. It really irks me how people still joke about this when it was never a joke to begin with.

Sad thing is my school didn't even have a special moment of silence for it today, which sucked honestly. One of our teachers was confused and ticked off too

Nonetheless this day will always be remembered as the day America truly changed forever. May all those who perished continue to rest in peace and I offer my condolences to the families of the fallen who have to deal with the grief to this day.

What's wrong with remembering lost loved ones or feeling empathy for people who did? Yes, it's a touchy subject but it's not something to "forget".

Why should something be forgotten just because it was in the past?
In fact the only things you can remember are from the past. If we forget stuff like this then they would happen more often. This is probably the worst thing to say. Firefighters and first responders sacrificed their own lives that day to save others, they are American Heros who always should be remembered.

I do agree that schools and shit should have a moment of silence, and that we shouldn't forget this kinda shit.
I just find a minecraft forum an odd place to talk about it.

(I'm just assuming the average age on here, so do correct me if I'm wrong.) I really doubt anyone has any personal attachment to the event due to how young most of the people here were.

We can empathize, and shit but why make a thread about it here?

It just seems odd to me.

You do not get to speak for everyone just because your uncle perished in 9/11. If people can't tell you to not talk about things, then why are you insinuating they shouldn't talk about related topics?
There are some people 18+ who could have lived in New York (or had family on the planes) that lost family when they were very young. Not getting to spend time with those people, wondering what it would be like, can be just as hurtful as losing them when you're older.

Does it matter that we are a Minecraft forum? We talk about many things not related to Minecraft.

Nobody will deny you your right to talk about a certain topic, and never should. Someone could be very educated on a topic even though it doesn't appear to be so.
Also it's a big historical event that took nearly 3000 lives, the amount of people that have died is huge but the amount of people that are affected by it is even bigger. Something like this will not simply fade away in the history books like a regular person dying. They are completely forgotten once the bloodline ''restarts'' but 9/11 will simply not go unnoticed for at least another 150 years ( : ^) )

Also every time you post something it seems to be very aggressive as if you're expecting to be attacked, calm down.

You wouldn't find it a little weird if someone personally mourned someone that they didn't know?

I just feel like making a thread about 9/11 remembrance is pushing an awkward limit. Reminds me of facebook tier shit.

Idk I don't really want this to turn into an argument I just find this thread awkward.

We're not mourning just one person, we're mourning for the innocent lives that were taken. This is a thread about remembering the victims of 9/11, I don't see why you're trying to oppose people trying to empathize & remember victims of this horrific tragedy.

I was also shocked when my school didn't take time for a moment of silence, at least some of the teachers talked about it.

Edit: Lemme reword that whole thing.

Obviously we should remember them, it'd be awful to pretend like it didn't happen.
I just don't feel like making a thread is a good way to do it.
That's why there are moments of silence. It's reverent, and gives time to reflect.
Making a thread about it just doesn't feel right to me.

This is a weird thing to debate I'm not gonna reply more. Sorry for the awkward argument.
