So today I saw that OITC reset, awesome, right? I played my first ranked match, and I was winning by a lot, and the other player ragequit. Instead of me gaining _ rating, I got +0, as the game said "Match ended prematurely" This makes me angry. It now means that people can get 19 kills, only for everyone to quit so the winner has no change on their rating whatsoever. It also makes the game a lot less fun. This is because now whenever I play ranked, I get one of three scenarios. 1. I dominate, but the other player quits, which inflicts no change on my rating, despite me dominating. 2. I fail miserably/get teamed and lose lots of rating. 3. I end up in a match with a hacker, which makes me lose rating. Before the reset, my ELO was at around 1500. Now it is down to 1136. At the top I decided to put a poll, to see what you guys think about this issue.
The "Match ended prematurely" thing only happens if the last player has 5 or fewer kills (which I wouldn't consider dominating). It was implemented very successfully to prevent large ELO losses to high rated players in a 1v1 scenario where the other player quits after 20 seconds but the score is still 0:0. The only other change to game stats in the update is that quitting prematurely in an unranked game now affects your w/g. Basically nothing much has changed. As for banning, that means anyone who gets kicked due to "flying" or "exception"/disconnects from lag would be temp-banned.
Banning for this is... very extreme. You shouldn’t be banned for leaving a game of OITC. It’s like saying you get a free God rank if you win a match with 12 people, it’s extreme.
I did vote temp-ban, and now that I dwell on it, it is extreme, but I still believe that they should still get some punishment, so they should still lose rating at the minimum, no matter how early the game ends.
Besides, you're not thinking about this: What if the player crashes? What if the players WiFI crashes?
I'd much rather not gain or lose any ELO every now and then than lose 20 wins worth of it occasionally. It's also useful for preventing accidental 1v1s from starting, as they take longer and often less skilled players hate 1v1ing good players as it is boring for them.
Hm, I think that if you were in a ranked game and a player leave/left, they should get a cool down. E.G If someone is in a ranked game with you and they leave, they'll get a cool down from joining a ranked game....(first time logging off/quitting gives them a warning when they log back on the server). Lets say 5 minutes... then gradually goes up to an hour or more if that player keeps disconnecting/quitting. Got this idea from CSGO match making rules. I think this is a fairly decent idea.
I disagree with all of this.. That is a very good idea to have. Having a cooldown should hold the players.
My thought is maybe the games should start the countdown once 3 or more players have joined, and for there to be a 1v1 option in the lobby with it's own smaller maps and leaderboard? Thoughts?
Adding more maps and another leaderboard for a 1v1 option is a lot of effort, especially with ./votestart having just been introduced.
Yes, it would be. Creating maps is so difficult that it takes days or even a week to do, depends on what map is chosen. Why 3? 2 is enough because what if anyone didn't join meanwhile you're waiting for another extra player?
